Construction Safety Manager

Job Description As the Safety Officer, you contribute to the overall success of the project by supporting the Project Management Team in all matters related to safety by supervising the safety practices of our employees, our subcontractors, and our customers on an industrial construction project site. Your role is a combination of ensuring everyone on site is working safely in the field and the administration of all safety information, including the preparation and submission of reports to the customer as well as the subcontractors. You will assist in monitoring work conditions and ensuring rules and current best practices are being followed by implementing necessary action plans to comply with safety standards. In the event of an issue, you are responsible for working with the Project Management Team to file the necessary reports such as daily safety, incident/accident, jurisdictional reports, and safety inspection documentation to ensure job site conditions are properly documented and any safety issues can be addressed. You are also responsible for following up to ensure correction if needed and advise the Project Management Team if safety issues and/or concerns are persistent and uncorrected. Proactive self-motivation, organization, communication, and multi-tasking skills will be critical for success in this role. Primary Responsibilities Maintain site-specific safety plans including accident prevention and emergency response plans, updating as necessary throughout construction phases (evacuation plans will change, environment changes, etc.). Coordinate with contractors to review all Contractor and Subcontractor site-specific safety plans, Job Hazard Analysis, and Job Safety Analysis for content and quality, as well as OSHA mandated site evaluations. Coordinate and conduct training for general safety, participate in safety audits and walkthroughs to identify opportunities for improvement and ensuring they are implemented. Maintain and report statistics pertaining to the site’s workforce and safety, including assessments of tools and equipment to ensure good quality, while continuously inspecting the project site and maintaining all safety documents and reports. Verify that all required safety reports are submitted to jurisdictions having authority. Apply corrective and preventive action when discrepancies are detected, using emergency authority when needed to stop unsafe behavior. Manage federal, state, and local OSHA compliance regulations. Qualifications 3+ years of experience in safety or industrial construction. Experience with case management, root-cause analysis, and accident investigation. Must be energetic to continually learn more about construction safety and dedicated to learning more about safety. Business literacy and knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point. OSHA 30 Certification along with a strong working knowledge of 29 CFR Part 1926 and the ability to recognize hazards. Excellent communications skills and the ability to establish strong working relationships with subcontractors, customers, vendors, and co‑workers.
