Instructional Designer Technologist Job ID: 322093 Location: Mesa Community College Full/Part Time: Full Time Regular/Temporary: Regular Salary Range: $64,346.00 - $83,650.00 annually, DOE Grade: 117 Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm; hours may vary based on department need Work Calendar: 12 months Job Summary The Center for Teaching and Learning at Mesa Community College seeks a collaborative and innovative Instructional Designer/Technologist to help advance the college's teaching and learning excellence. This position applies expertise in instructional design and educational technology to support faculty in creating engaging, accessible, and high‑quality learning experiences across modalities. The role includes designing and delivering professional development, providing consultative support, and developing evidence‑based resources that promote effective teaching practices. The Instructional Designer/Technologist also partners with eLearning and College Technology Services to evaluate, pilot, and implement emerging technologies that enhance instruction in online, hybrid, live online, and face‑to‑face environments. Essential Functions 35% – Provides research‑based and needs‑responsive full‑service consultation, design, and facilitation of professional development opportunities in instructional innovation, online learning, pedagogy, instructional methodologies, and organizational development. Engages diverse faculty, staff, and administrators to improve and enhance teaching and learning. 20% – Provides leadership, vision, and coordination for instructional technology adoption and implementation across the college. Promotes innovation in teaching and learning and supports faculty in effectively integrating digital tools and platforms. 20% – Provides administration of the Learning Management System (LMS) and related instructional technologies platforms (Simple Syllabus, Dropout Detective, ConexED, etc.), providing faculty support and training to ensure quality, accessible online and hybrid learning experiences. 10% – Researches, implements, and promotes best practices for integrating educational technologies to enhance teaching, learning, and accessibility. Actively participates in district committees and collaborates with college departments to advocate for faculty and student success in instructional innovation. 10% – Engages in ongoing professional learning to stay current with trends in instructional design, learning science, accessibility, and emerging technologies to continually enhance CTL programming and support. 5% – Performs related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in instructional design, training and development, educational technology or related field and four years of experience in instructional design and development, program and systems development and/or assessment and evaluation. OR an equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full‑time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job. Desired Qualifications Experience designing and delivering professional development focused on pedagogy, instructional design, and/or technology integration preferably in higher education. Experience designing and implementing quality online, hybrid, and/or technology‑enhanced courses using accessibility and engagement best practices preferably in higher education. Experience collaborating with higher‑ed faculty, preferably at a community college, to enhance teaching and learning through instructional innovation. Experience administering and/or supporting learning management systems (e.g., Canvas) and related instructional tools (e.g., Simple Syllabus, Dropout Detective, ConexED), preferably in higher education. Experience developing instructional materials and/or digital learning assets (videos, guides, modules, templates) using accessible, user‑centered design principles. Experience consulting, communicating, and/or collaborating with diverse education faculty and staff to provide service and foster innovation, preferably in higher education. Experience applying adult learning and/or evidence‑based pedagogical approaches to design or facilitate instruction or faculty learning. Engagement in continuous professional learning related to instructional design, learning science, accessibility, and/or educational technology. Special Working Conditions May be required to work at multiple sites or locations. May be required to sit for a prolonged period of time, viewing a computer monitor. Monday - Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm; Work Schedule may vary. May be required to work evenings and weekends. Position is not eligible for work‑from‑home options.
