The Assistant Director of Facilities supervises the day-to-day operations of the District Facilities Department. Overseeing Facilities Maintenance, Grounds Services, and Custodial Services, the incumbent uses the District's mission, priorities, and commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion to create a welcoming environment for students and employees.
Utilizing data analysis, creative problem solving, leadership skills, and cross-departmental collaboration, the Assistant Director coordinates the delivery of essential facility maintenance and custodial services, ensures compliance with health, life safety, and building codes, recommends priorities for needed repairs and renovations, and develops contingency plans for extraordinary grounds and maintenance efforts under emergency conditions. The Assistant Director communicates in meaningful and positive ways with a wide array of constituents across the district and in the community.
This position reports directly to the District Director of Facilities and Operations of Pierce College District. This position requires regular and consistent attendance.

Terms of Employment
This is a full-time, administrative-exempt position. The primary work location will be at Pierce College, Fort Steilacoom campus. Frequent travel to Pierce College campuses or other sites, including Joint Base Lewis-McChord, may occur.
Standard work hours are between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend hours required. This position may be eligible for occasional remote work once the incumbent is established in the role. Regular and consistent attendance is required.
Salary & Benefits The salary range for this position is $99,925.00 - $123,631.00 annually. The salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications and related experience. Physical Work Environment
This position works indoors in an office environment, as well as requiring visits to construction work sites, including entry into regulated and unregulated confined spaces. This position requires the ability to perceive and react to emergency warnings typical to an industrial construction site, including but not limited to auditory horns, bells, and alarms; visual warning lights; and vibrating warning indicators. This position uses Personal Protective Equipment as required. The responsibilities of this position require regular visits to all types and conditions of facilities including using stairs and ladders; navigating construction sites.

- Under the direction and guidance of the District Director of Facilities, and using data-informed methods, lead, plan, direct, and manage efficient facilities and grounds operations; management responsibilities include but are not limited to maintenance, custodial, grounds, and related support services.
- Plan, direct, coordinate, and implement effective programs for energy conservation, utility management, preventative maintenance, operational inventories, and disaster/resiliency preparedness.
- Assist in preparing budget requests and monitor budgets to ensure efficient and effective resource allocation within statutory and policy guidelines.
- Develop and implement procedures; provide guidance and oversight of work procedures; and propose policy revisions for all assigned operating units.
- Ensure Facilities and Maintenance procedures are compliant with Occupational Health and Safety requirements; maintain the Asbestos Program.
- Communicate appropriately to a wide variety of audiences on topics related to job duties.
- Develop, monitor, adjust, and report metrics in order to support decisions related to facilities operations.
- Recruit, train, supervise, evaluate, and develop directly and indirectly assigned department employees in compliance with district policies, applicable regulations, and collective bargaining agreements; recommend disciplinary action.
- Facilitate compliance with annual required training and certifications.
- Communicate appropriately to a wide variety of audiences on topics related to job duties.
- Develop, implement, and monitor sustainability initiatives on behalf of the District.
- Ensure efficient use of utilities and other energy resources; monitor and adapt waste disposal and recycling programs to minimize environmental impact; and implement sustainable practices within ongoing maintenance and operations programs.
- Provide input for facilities planning and capital development.
- Perform special assignments and related duties as directed.
- Attend meetings and participate in participative governance activities, at times acting as the representative of the District Director of Facilities.
Education Required
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience managing facilities in a complex campus organization, including budget management and supervision of staff.
- Demonstrated leadershipexperience.
- Demonstrated experience managing maintenance operations of a campus or facility of at least 200,000 square feet.
- Demonstrated experience planning and executing data-based strategies for preventative maintenance and waste reduction.
