Assistant/Associate Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry The Dell Medical School (DMS) Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is seeking a board certified/board eligible Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join the clinical faculty and serve on our community and school‑based telemedicine programs and consultation‑liaison clinical team in Austin, Texas. The role includes clinical, educational, and research responsibilities to transform mental health delivery for children and adolescents across Central Texas. Department Overview The Department leads psychiatry education for the Dell Medical School and trains mental health professionals to become leaders in psychiatry and psychology. Clinical services deliver evidence‑based care for individuals and families in general medical and specialty behavioral health settings, and the Department drives cutting‑edge research on neurobiological causes of psychiatric disorders and novel treatments. Key Responsibilities Primary responsibilities will include providing clinical expertise to evaluate and treat a broad spectrum of mental health challenges for children and adolescents and supporting physicians who call the Child and Perinatal Psychiatric Access Network for consultation. The physician will also provide psychiatric care as part of the Community Psychiatry Workforce Expansion (CPWE) program. Assess and treat patients and physicians; conduct clinical interviews and interpret age‑specific responses. Offer education, clinical recommendations, and referrals to primary care providers. Prescribe medication in collaboration with patients/guardians, perform cost/benefit analysis, and meet productivity standards. Provide ongoing in‑person or telemedical medication management and monitor effectiveness and tolerability. Document all services within 24 hours of delivery and maintain accurate medical records. Provide emergency psychiatric evaluations and crisis services. Participate in treatment team meetings, medical staff meetings, peer review, and quality management activities. Collaborate with colleagues to develop new services, programs, and affiliations. Qualifications Required: Unrestricted license to practice medicine in Texas, or the ability to obtain it prior to appointment. Board certified in general psychiatry and either board‑certified or board‑eligible in child and adolescent psychiatry, with a commitment to become certified within two years of fellowship completion. Eligible for credentialing and privileging by Ascension Seton. Eligible for credentialing and privileging in the local mental health authority. Eligible for appointment as an assistant professor or higher in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Eligible for faculty appointment with The University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School. Preferred: Demonstrated leadership, clinical teaching, evaluation, and communication skills.
