Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized professional staffing and recruiting firm that is looking for an experienced Project Manager to fill a one-year contract assignment in the Birmingham, AL or Atlanta, GA areas. This position may require some bending, lifting, climbing, prolonged sitting, prolonged walking, walking on gravel or crawling when necessary. This role will manage specific asset data documentation projects for new generation sites and remediation efforts for existing generation sites including managing plant walkdowns, drawing updates, P&ID reviews including CAD work, asset equipment Identification, numbering, & labeling, project planning and scheduling, budget tracking, and O&M procedure reviews between the plant and vendors.

Key Responsibilities

Project Coordination & Implementation Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of project activities to meet defined objectives and deliverables. Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, project budget, and resource allocations. Facilitate project meetings, track action items, and ensure alignment among internal stakeholders and external partners. Monitor progress, manage risks, and implement corrective actions to keep projects on track. Coordinate the transition from current site documentation to standardized documentation and oversee implementation activities. Support end-user training, adoption, and change management efforts to ensure successful implementation.

Project Objectives

Enhance asset documentation accuracy, completeness, and quality to enable better decision-making. Improve usability and accessibility of site documentation across departments and business units. Leverage technology to establish a strong foundation for data management and governance. Implement a comprehensive Data Strategy plan that includes Governance, Controls, and Remediation and uphold Company data and procedure standards.

Project Deliverables

Conduct assessments of existing site documentation (drawings, procedures, asset identification). Identify and document business requirements for completion of the project. Document input and requirements from key stakeholders (engineering, supply chain, projects, asset management, operations, maintenance, and technology). Implement data governance policies, procedures, and roles to maintain integrity and consistency of project documentation. Execute the transition plan and oversee implementation of the new project documentation. Provide training, communication, and support to ensure smooth adoption of new documentation and tools.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Project Management: Proven ability to manage complex projects, coordinate multiple stakeholders, and drive implementation from planning through completion. Technical Process Knowledge: Understanding of power plant and utility systems to effectively scope and execute projects. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for engaging with customers, leadership, and technical teams. Documentation & Organization: Strong attention to detail in maintaining project documentation, schedules, and procedures. Problem-Solving: Analytical and solution-oriented mindset to address challenges and maintain project momentum. Microsoft Proficiency: Advanced skills with Microsoft tools (Excel, Word, Teams, Project, Sharepoint, etc.). Customer Focus: Commitment to delivering high-quality service and responsiveness to stakeholder needs.

Additional Responsibilities

Project Planning: Develop comprehensive project plans, including defining project scope, objectives, timelines, and resource requirements. Team Leadership: Assemble project teams, assign responsibilities, and lead cross-functional teams to achieve project goals. Provide guidance and direction to team members. Budget Management: Develop and manage project budgets, tracking expenses, and ensuring that projects stay within budgetary constraints. Scope Management: Define project scope and monitor changes to ensure that the project stays within its original parameters. Document and communicate scope changes as necessary. Risk Assessment: Identify potential project risks and develop risk mitigation plans. Proactively address issues and challenges as they arise. Timeline Management: Create project schedules and timelines, and monitor progress to ensure that projects are completed on time. Implement advanced project management methodologies to streamline processes. Stakeholder Communication: Maintain regular communication with project stakeholders, keeping them informed of project progress and addressing their concerns. Quality Assurance: Implement quality control processes to ensure that project deliverables meet established standards and specifications. Documentation: Maintain accurate project documentation, including project plans, status reports, and project closure reports. Issue Resolution: Address project issues and conflicts, and work with team members to find solutions. Escalate issues to senior management when necessary. Project Closure: Ensure that all project objectives are met, and that projects are closed effectively, including obtaining sign-off from stakeholders and conducting post-project evaluations.
