Controls Engineer

Controls Engineer (Beckhoff TwinCAT / EtherCAT)We are seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to support a 24/7 medically regulated (cGMP) facility at our client's site in Johns Creek, GA. The engineer will be responsible for investigating, enhancing, developing, and validating TwinCAT PLC programs with a strong emphasis on EtherCAT diagnostics, safety system integration, and specification monitoring defeat analysis. This role requires meticulous documentation and strict adherence to cGMP and regulatory standards.Key Responsibilities:Design, develop, test, and validate PLC code in Beckhoff TwinCAT systemsPerform diagnostics and enhance EtherCAT communication and HMI messagingInvestigate and improve safety signal logic and failure messaging to meet compliance standardsAnalyze potential specification monitoring bypasses, propose and implement mitigationsPrepare and maintain high-quality documentation suitable for a regulated environmentRegularly update stakeholders and deliver formal progress and final summary reportsCollaborate with on-site teams and ensure compliance with all site quality and operational protocolsKey Deliverables:Reviewed and approved TwinCAT PLC code with full documentation and version controlDetailed investigation reports with actionable recommendationsComprehensive test plans and corresponding reportsUpdated system documentation aligned with cGMP/regulatory complianceOngoing status updates and final engagement summaryRequired Qualifications:Expertise in Beckhoff TwinCAT PLC systems and EtherCAT diagnosticsExperience with PLC safety systems and HMI integrationStrong knowledge of medically regulated/cGMP environmentsProficiency in documentation and version control practicesFamiliarity with Siemens PLCs is a plusExcellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsStrong communication and collaboration abilitiesWork Environment:On-site, 24/7 medically regulated production facilityMust follow all client site protocols and quality procedures
