Mechanical Technician

Our client, a leading automotive manufacturer , is seeking a Mechanical Technician to join their team. As a Mechanical Technician , you will be part of the Components Lab supporting the transmission and back-to-back gear testing team . The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and effective communication skills which will align successfully in the organization. Job Title: Mechanical Technician 4 Location: Pontiac, MI 48340, On-site Pay Range: $34 - $39 per hour What’s the Job? Set up and tear down test articles, instrumentation, and mechanical components used in automotive component testing. Conduct development and validation testing on transmission, gear, drivetrain, and electric drive unit components. Perform mechanical troubleshooting, diagnostics, gear changes, component teardown, and post-test analysis. Collect, review, validate, and document test data, including measuring and photographing component wear or damage. Collaborate with test engineers and technicians to improve testing methods, equipment performance, and testing processes. What’s Needed? 2-year technical degree or related automotive technical education. Minimum 3 years of automotive experience with strong hands-on mechanical knowledge, hand tools, repair, and troubleshooting. At least 6 months of experience with component/subsystem test setup, installation, or automotive testing. Knowledge of transmissions, drivetrains, gears, clutches, drive units, or similar automotive mechanical systems. Strong mechanical, fabrication, diagnostic, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills. What’s in it for me?
