Merchandising AssistantThe Merchandising Assistant supports the merchandising team in planning, buying, and managing product assortments to maximize sales, profitability, and customer satisfaction. This entry-to-mid-level role serves as a key support position in retail, e-commerce, fashion, or consumer goods companies. It blends analytical work, vendor coordination, and creative input to ensure the right products are in the right place at the right time.Responsibilities:Maintain appointment calendar (in buyer's absence)Take messages and return calls in buyer's absencePrepare store memosReturn samples to vendors/companiesEnter purchase order information into computer systemAssign SKU# to all stylesCommunicate with stores and vendorsPrint out weekly buying reportsDistribute mail and reportsCompile all weekly and monthly inventoriesApprove transfersCooperate with management and other buying staff associatesAssist team members and help in other areas as directed by supervisor or managementQualifications:Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications (Word, Excel, AS400, etc.)Experience with office equipment (printer, calculator, etc.)Must possess excellent written, verbal communication skills; good phone etiquetteOrganization and time management skillsConsistency and reliabilitySitting for extended periods of timeAbility to lift up to 20 lbs.Required Experience:Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Etc.)1–2 years of retail, merchandising, or buying support experience preferredFamiliarity with merchandising or inventory management software (e.g., retail ERP systems)Some travel to store locations may be requiredAbility to work in a fast-paced retail environment with shifting prioritiesRequired Education:High School diploma or equivalentHamrick's is a family-owned retailer with 81 years of excellence in providing value-driven merchandise to our loyal customers.
