Responsibilities Under direction of the Senior Oil and Gas Engineer (Supervisor), the Engineering Geologist will function as a Field and Regulatory Specialist within the CalGEM Central District office. The incumbent will perform activities associated with the development of natural resources both independently and as part of a team. Responsibilities include conducting complex field inspections, performing geologic and engineering work, performing complex calculations, creating reports, and generating graphics using various computer applications. The incumbent will review and analyze geologic and engineering reports and demonstrate strong data management and communication skills. Emphasis includes witnessing operations related to critical wells as required by Assembly Bill 211 and PRC section 3113 where possible. Qualifications & Requirements Must be eligible for employment with the State; new hires may be subject to examination requirements and budgetary conditions as specified by CalHR. Special Requirements: Medical clearance prior to employment. Subject to the Department’s Conflict of Interest Code. Valid driver’s license. Not eligible for E-Verify or STEM OPT extensions; eligible applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship. Important Notes This position is contingent on budget approval. Salary reductions under PLP 2025 may apply for new appointees, with monthly salary reductions and accrual of PLP 2025 hours.
