Position Summary : The Student Company Instructor is responsible for instructing, mentoring, evaluating, and managing students enrolled in the Special Forces Qualification Course (SFQC). Leveraging extensive Special Forces operational experience, this position delivers classroom and field-based instruction focused on advanced warrior skills, small-unit tactics, land navigation, weapons employment, tactical communications, fieldcraft, and survivability. The instructor conducts performance evaluations, provides student counseling and feedback, and ensures adherence to training standards established by command guidance. 

Duties and Responsibilities:  

• Instruct, demonstrate, and evaluate up to Common Skill Level 3 tasks for students enrolled in the Special Forces Qualification Course (SFQC).

• Utilizing extensive operational experience, instructors shall reinforce student proficiency in advanced warrior skills, small-unit tactics, land navigation, weapons employment, tactical communications, fieldcraft, and survivability in austere environments.

• Conduct performance-based evaluations, score written and practical exams, administer student counseling, and provide constructive performance feedback to ensure students achieve the training standards mandated by the Commanding General's training guidance.

• Manage, account for, and supervise students who are awaiting training (AT) or holding between active phases of instruction.

• Maintain 100% daily roster accountability, establish work details, conduct physical fitness training, enforce Army appearance and behavioral standards, and manage administrative actions for all assigned holding-status students.

• Monitor student physical and medical readiness, coordinate routine clinic appointments, inspect barracks and common areas for safety and cleanliness, and prepare students mentally and physically for immediate transition into follow-on training phases.

• Cultivate a disciplined, professional garrison and field environment that prevents student regression and optimizes pipeline throughput.

• Execute all instructional, evaluation, and student management duties at Fort Bragg, Camp Mackall, and associated satellite training installations, ranges, drop zones, and field sites throughout North Carolina.

• Adapt to dynamic training schedules and support rotational 24/7 operations, which include overnight field training exercises (FTXs), weekend training blocks, and tactical movements in remote, austere, and woodline environments.

• Maintain situational awareness, enforce range and tactical safety regulations in accordance with local command standard operating procedures, and rapidly identify and mitigate environmental and training hazards to safeguard students and staff.

• Operate Government-furnished and General Services Administration (GSA) leased vehicles, including non-tactical passenger vehicles, light utility trucks, and field-utility transport platforms, to transport students, training aids, and equipment to remote ranges and satellite training sites.

• Perform daily operator-level Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS), record accurate trip logs, maintain vehicle cleanliness, and immediately report any mechanical discrepancies, safety issues, or accidents to the Contracting Officer Representative (COR) and the unit master driver.

• Utilize Government-Furnished Equipment (GFE) computer terminals, local area networks, and Non-Classified Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRNet) workstations to: 

1.  access military academic databases 
2. manage student training files 
3. record evaluation scores 
4. update automated training management programs 
5. conduct official duty-related correspondence via government enterprise email. 

Required Qualifications:

• US Citizen 

• Must hold an active Secret Security Clearance

• Ability to obtain a Department of Defense Common Access Card (CAC) by undergoing a favorable Tier 1 (T1) background investigation and complete all mandatory annual Cyber Awareness, Information Assurance, and operations security training before receiving network access. 

• Must maintain a valid, unrestricted state civilian driver's license and successfully complete all military and installation-specific driver licensing, orientation, and safety courses prior to operating any government vehicle 

• Special Forces-qualified at the Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) level of Sergeant First Class (SFC/E-7) and above, Warrant Officer, or Commissioned Officer 

• Must possess a minimum of three (3) years of operational experience assigned to a detachment within an active-duty or National Guard Special Forces Group (SFG) and be a graduate of the Special Forces Qualification Course 

• Must possess or obtain the Common Faculty Developer-Instructor Course (CFD-IC) certification or equivalent military instructor credentials 

• Must pass a pre-employment medical examination and annual urinalysis screenings and meet the physical fitness standards necessary to walk long distances across rugged training areas, stand for extended periods, and operate in extreme weather conditions 

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint) 

• Clear and effective verbal and written communication 

Physical Demands and Work Environment: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk, listen, and write. The employee frequently is required to use foot/ankle motions, hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is required to stand, walk, sit; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
