ARNP Psychiatric Specialty (Trueblood Settlement) Facility Location: Port Angeles, WA State (NOT a remote position) Department: Medical Services Reports to: Medical Director FLSA Status: Exempt Pay Range: $150,000 to $175,000 per year (DOE/DOQ) Hours per Week: 40 hours Work Days: Monday to Friday 403(b) Retirement Plan Life Insurance Long Term Disability Wellness Program Employee Assistance Program LifeFlight Membership JOB PURPOSE: The Psychiatric ARNP provides Psychiatric Assessments and ongoing care to consumers for Peninsula Behavioral Health (PBH). The ARNP completes Initial Psychiatric Evaluations, Medication Management, and Consultation services within scope of practice. As part of the Trueblood settlement , the state is funding enhanced engagement to connect individuals detained in city and county jails with services. This position will provide medication management to individuals who are involved in the criminal court system. This individual will provide initial psychiatric evaluations, brief physical assessments, and ongoing care for this population. This position will be both in an office setting and in the community. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Conducts and completes Initial Psychiatric Evaluations including diagnostic formulation, clinical risk assessment, and treatment recommendations. Prescribes and renews medications of assigned clients. Regularly monitors side effects of prescribed medications. Provides consumers with information necessary to make informed consents. Provides back-up support to other members of the Medical Team. Orders and monitors laboratory studies, metabolic parameters, and other tests needed to safely monitor consumers' ongoing psychiatric health. Provides psychiatric consultation to those outside agencies with which PBH contracts (such as OMC, CCCF, and nursing homes) within scope of practice. Consults on request from Primary Care Providers and other specialists for management of psychiatric issues for clients enrolled with PBH but not involved in ongoing medication management. Coordinates with consumers' Pharmacies, Caregivers, Case Managers, and Therapists for continuity of care. Works in a collegial manner with all clinical staff and departmental supervisors. Routinely participates in the Performance Improvement process to address and resolve issues impacting quality. Maintains standards of confidentiality and documentation. Provides thorough documentation of clients utilizing electronic based medical records. SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintains professional licensures and credentials. Participates actively in professional organizations in order to further education, professional growth, and networking. Provides in-service training for staff as follow-up to educational conference attendance. Performs relevant administrative tasks according to Agency needs and expectations. Maintains high standards of professional conduct in relation to clients, staff, and other community professionals. Responds to community needs for regular business hours availability and may provide some evening and weekend consultations as the need arises. Abides by the Policies and Procedures of the Agency. PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS: Provides, on average, a minimum of 50% productivity per week. Enters client records in electronic health record within 24 hours of contact 95% of the time. Attends a minimum of 90% of required meetings, staffing, training, and educational opportunities as scheduled. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. REQUIRED EDUCATION, LICENSE(S), CERTIFICATION, AND EXPERIENCE: Education: Advanced Nursing Degree from an accredited school. Continuing Education Credits as required, to maintain Licensure. Licensure: Current license as a Registered Nurse and Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner with Prescriptive Authority in Washington State. DEA Certification for Scheduled I-V Drugs. Eligible for Credentialing with Olympic Medical Center. Eligible for credentialing with various insurance panels. Credentials and licensure to treat children and adolescents. Experience: At least one year of experience in treating a wide range of psychiatric disabilities including one year of experience in Child/Adolescence Prescriptive treatment. Additional requirements: Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check. Must be able to provide vaccination records for MMR, Hep B, Tdap and recent flu shot. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Must be able to demonstrate the age specific knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to adults and older adults. Must demonstrate knowledge of key principles of growth and development of the life span, possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and be able to interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's needs relative to his/her age in accordance with PBH's policies and procedures. Must be able to demonstrate effective leadership skills and promote a team-oriented environment. Preferred: Must be able to demonstrate the age specific knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to children and adolescents. NATURE AND SCOPE: Physical Demands: Moderate physical effort (lift/carry up to 25lbs.) Occasional standing/walking. Occasionally lifts supplies and equipment. Required Protective Equipment: maintain Standard Precautions and use barriers (glove, masks, aprons, goggles) appropriately in all potential exposures to body fluids. Cognitive Skills: Advanced verbal and written communication skills. Effective team building techniques. May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases. Works in a clean, well-lit, and ventilated office. Occasionally exposed to patients exhibiting assaultive behaviors. Working Demands: Frequent pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries. Contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances. Subject to varying and unpredictable situations. Handles emergency or crisis situations, rarely assist in restraining or deescalating agitated individuals. Subject to long irregular hours. Principal Challenges: Working collaboratively with other PBH employees and multiple community referral sources. Managing chronic, often complex clinical problems. Maintaining a caseload efficiently.
