RN: Med Surg (Full-Time Day Shift)Pagosa Springs Medical Center - Pagosa Springs, ColoradoPosition SummaryPagosa Springs Medical Center (PSMC) is seeking a compassionate and skilled Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) to join our inpatient care team on day shift.The Med Surg RN provides observation and inpatient care for patients admitted to the Medical Surgical Unit. Responsibilities include assessing and treating patient conditions, administering medications and treatments, monitoring patient progress, educating patients and families, and collaborating with physicians and the healthcare team to ensure safe, high-quality care.This role is ideal for nurses who enjoy delivering comprehensive patient care in a collaborative hospital environment.Schedule HighlightsFull-time position (36 hours per week)Day shift scheduleRotating weekends and holidays may be required12-hour shifts typical in inpatient nursing environmentsKey ResponsibilitiesPatient Assessment & CarePerform comprehensive patient assessments and ongoing monitoring of clinical conditionsDevelop and implement individualized nursing care plansProvide observation and inpatient nursing care for medical and surgical patientsMonitor patient response to treatments and adjust care as neededClinical InterventionsInitiate treatments including IV therapy, oxygen therapy, catheter placement, splints, and other ordered proceduresAdminister medications safely using the seven rights of medication administrationOperate infusion pumps and monitor IV therapiesPatient Education & SupportEducate patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructionsProvide guidance on recovery, wellness, and follow-up careSupport patients and families through hospitalization and recovery processesCare CoordinationCollaborate with physicians, hospitalists, surgeons, and interdisciplinary care teamsEnsure continuity of care and support safe patient transitions and discharge planningCommunicate patient condition changes promptly to providersDocumentation & Quality ComplianceDocument assessments, treatments, and patient progress in the electronic health recordEnsure compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirementsParticipate in quality improvement and patient safety initiativesQualificationsEducationGraduate of an accredited Registered Nurse (RN) programBSN preferred but not requiredExperienceMinimum two (2) years of Med Surg experience strongly desiredLicensure & CertificationsCurrent Colorado RN license in good standingCurrent AHA BLS certification for healthcare providersACLS certification required (or must obtain within 3 months of hire)PALS certification required (or must obtain within 3 months of hire)SkillsStrong patient assessment and clinical decision-making skillsAbility to manage multiple patients and prioritize care effectivelyKnowledge of cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretationExcellent communication and teamwork abilitiesProficiency with electronic health record systemsWork EnvironmentInpatient hospital unit with frequent patient interactionExposure to blood, bodily fluids, communicable diseases, and medical equipmentFast-paced environment with frequent interruptionsPhysical demands include standing, walking, lifting, and assisting patientsCompensation & BenefitsBase Compensation Range: $32.60 - $50.40 hourly, based on years of relevant experience.Night Shift Differential: Employees who work majority of hours between 6:30 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. receive a Night Shift Differential of an additional $5.00 per hour.Benefits: Benefits include generous paid time off, separate sick leave, health, dental, vision, life and AD&D insurance, long-term disability and option for short-term disability, and retirement plan with employer contribution.Pagosa Springs Medical Center is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
