Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

The Registered Nurse (RN) will provide care in the PreOperative and Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), ensuring a high standard of patient care. This role requires a commitment to teamwork and flexibility, especially in responding to call requirements as needed.

Shift Details

Shift Type: 8-hour days with on-call responsibilities
Call Response Time: 30 minutes
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 6AM - 2:30PM
Weekend Requirement: 1 weekend per month, with options for weekend shift sign-up.

Unit Information

Number of Beds: 10 rooms
Nurse to Patient Ratios: Typically 1:3 to manage anywhere between 5-30 cases daily.
Common Medical Diagnoses: Includes but not limited to cholecystectomies, appendectomies, hernia repairs, mastectomies, hysterectomies, and colonoscopies.
Staffing: Includes 3 RNs on duty, including a working charge nurse.

Qualifications

Required Experience: 2 years of acute care experience; Preoperative experience preferred but not mandatory.
Certifications: Current certification in ACLS, BLS, and PALS is required.
Skills: Comfortable with IV starts and willing to learn EKGs and nerve blocks. Experience with Phase 2 care is a plus.
Preceptors may be required as needed.

Additional Information

Floating: Must be open to floating between PreOperative and Phase 2 units.
Orientation: 1-2 days with a designated preceptor.
Dysrhythmia Exam: Candidates must pass with an 83% or higher before contract signing, with three attempts allowed.
Dress Code: Navy Blue scrubs.
Team Dynamics: The unit has a small team environment, encouraging collaboration among staff members.
Technology: Proficient in SIS and Meditech EMR systems.
