What You’ll Actually Be Doing

You’ll operate as part sales rep, part consultant, part problem solver:

• Meet directly with fire departments, municipalities, and emergency service agencies throughout Illinois
• Demonstrate firefighting equipment and explain how it performs in real-world situations
• Help departments identify the right solutions for their operational needs, staffing, and budgets
• Build long-term relationships—not transactional sales
• Support customers from initial conversations through delivery and post-sale support
• Stay on top of market trends, competitor products, and financing options
• Manage territory activity, forecasting, and customer communication through CRM tools
• Spend time on the road, in stations, at trainings, and in front of decision-makers

You’re not selling office supplies.

You’re helping departments make decisions tied directly to firefighter safety, response capability, and operational readiness.

• You’re self-driven and don’t need someone micromanaging your day
• You’re comfortable walking into a firehouse and building rapport quickly
• You can explain technical equipment without sounding robotic or scripted

• You enjoy being on the road and managing your own territory
• You like competition and want control over your earning potential

• Experience in firefighting equipment sales, emergency services, or related industries
• Minimum 5 years of sales experience
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Ability to manage customer activity, forecasting, and pipeline tracking within CRM systems
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and ERP/CRM platforms such as CDK preferred
• Strong organization and follow-through

• $70,000 base salary during training and ramp-up period (typically 12 months)
• Transition to uncapped commission structure following ramp-up

ADA Requirements:

• Stand, walk, bend, squat, twist, reach or otherwise move frequently
• Occasional repetitive motion and grasping; climbing to reach areas on equipment
• Lift, move or otherwise transfer up to 50 lbs. occasionally, >20 lbs. frequently
• Typically sits, grasp items and performs keyboarding for occasional operation of a computer
• Travel by car frequently, by air occasionally
