Qualified Medication Aide

The Qualified Medication Aide (QMA) provides safe, compassionate, and resident-centered care by administering medications and designated treatments within the QMA scope of practice and under the direction of a licensed nurse. The QMA monitors and reports resident conditions and medication responses, maintains accurate documentation, and assists residents with daily care needs while promoting dignity, safety, comfort, and well-being. The ideal candidate is dependable, compassionate, detail-oriented, and organized, with a genuine desire to serve others. They demonstrate patience, sound judgment, strong communication, and a team-oriented approach, while taking pride in providing consistent, respectful, and person-centered care. Essential Job Functions Safely prepare, administer, monitor, and document prescribed medications, including PRN and controlled substances, within QMA scope of practice and with required licensed-nurse authorization. Monitor and report medication reactions, side effects, changes in condition, vital signs, blood glucose, oxygen saturation, and other required observations. Provide ordered treatments, clinical care, testing, and specimen collection within QMA scope of practice. Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential resident records and documentation. Follow physician orders, nursing direction, HIPAA, infection-control and safety practices, facility policies, and applicable state and federal regulations. Collaborate with licensed nurses and the care team to provide consistent, respectful, and resident-centered care. Assist residents with daily care needs while promoting dignity, safety, comfort, and independence. Job Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Current certification as a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant). Valid QMA certification in the state of employment. CPR and First Aid certification preferred. Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of medication administration, infection control, resident safety, HIPAA, and applicable regulations. Ability to safely administer, monitor, and accurately document medications, treatments, and resident observations within QMA scope of practice. Ability to recognize and promptly report changes in resident condition, medication reactions, and abnormal findings. Strong attention to detail, organization, accuracy, and time management. Effective communication and ability to follow orders, procedures, and direction while working independently and collaboratively. Compassionate, resident-centered approach with a commitment to dignity, respect, and confidentiality. Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of standing. Must be able to bend, twist, push, pull, and lift up to 40 pounds at times. Good physical and emotional health with no previous back injuries or weakness.
