Maintenance Technician Intern - Commercial

The Maintenance Technician Internship program is employer sponsored. A maintenance technician intern works alongside fully qualified maintenance technicians to learn the skills of the trade. As a maintenance tech intern, your responsibilities are to assist with a variety of duties, including installing equipment, maintaining mechanical systems, and repairing machines and commercial property facilities. This program combines the on-the-job hands-on training with related training at the technical college. Some hands-on training is used to reinforce the related training. Thus, skills are developed to help the technician keep machines and equipment operating and productive. If you like to maintain, repair, and troubleshoot problems and put theory to work, a career as a maintenance technician may be your ticket to success. You may also need to complete classroom or online training about HVAC structures, plumbing, and electrical and mechanical systems and components. Onsite training will include areas of training including:

• Basic electrical repair and maintenance
• Basic plumbing repair and maintenance
• Basic HVAC repair and maintenance
• Basic construction principals
• Building automation

• You must be at least 18 years old and a high school graduate or equivalent.
• Currently pursuing a certification in either electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry or other skill trades field
