Director, Continuous Improvement
Cart.com
Job Description: Who We Are: We’re Cart.com, one of the fastest growing commerce enablement companies in the world. We provide the digital and physical infrastructure that empowers thousands of leading B2C, B2B and public sector organizations to unify commerce operations from product discovery to product delivery. We’re building toward a world where commerce has no bounds. Our enterprise-grade software, services and logistics infrastructure, including our own network of omnichannel fulfillment and distribution centers, enable merchants to navigate an increasingly complex operating landscape and drive efficient growth. Our goal is to be the global backbone of commerce. To achieve it, we’re looking for entrepreneurial, innovative and determined teammates who are eager to help our growing base of customers simplify their commerce operations and seamlessly reach their own customers, wherever they are. Sound like you? We’d love to hear from you. Cart.com Fast Facts: 6,000+ customers worldwide 1,200+ employees globally 15 warehouses nationwide, totaling over 10 million square feet of space Headquartered in Houston, TX with international offices Our values: Be brand obsessed: Our lives are shaped by the brands we interact with daily. We obsess over the brands we serve, and about the things they care about. Think beyond the box: “We’ve always done it that way” is not a phrase uttered often at our office. We create creative solutions to complex problems. Don’t give up: We learn from our challenges and see them for what they are; great building blocks to an amazing brand story. Speak up: We communicate clearly and directly because we care deeply. Communication is the bedrock of our community. Work together: We’ve built a team that prides itself on diversity of thought and background. Collaboration is better with contrast. Remember to be human: We work hard, but we leave room for the people, places and things that we love. AI is part of how we work. It’s not dong the hiring. We'll use AI in parts of our process and we think you should feel free to use it too — for research, prep, whatever helps. But our interviews exist to meet you, not your best AI-assisted draft. Real people make every call here. Any questions about how this works, just ask: View email address on click.appcast.io Remote: Candidates who live in or around Groveport, Ohio with the ability to work a flexible schedule based on the needs of the business. The Role: As the Director of Continuous Improvement, you will serve as a strategic operational partner responsible for driving process excellence, productivity improvements, and client satisfaction across Cart.com's fulfillment operations. Based primarily in our largest building in Groveport, Ohio, this individual contributor role will work closely with site leadership, operations teams, clients, and corporate partners to identify opportunities, implement solutions, and deliver measurable business results throughout the entire network. You will lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance labor efficiency, service delivery, quality, safety, AI and employee engagement. You will act as a catalyst for change by leveraging data, Lean principles, and strong stakeholder relationships to improve operational performance and create a culture of continuous improvement. This role is ideal for a results oriented operational leader who has successfully driven continuous improvement programs within high-volume fulfillment, eCommerce, or third party logistics environments and thrives on solving complex business challenges through influence, collaboration, and data-driven problem solving rather than direct people management. What You'll Do Partner with fulfillment site leadership to identify, prioritize, and execute continuous improvement initiatives that improve productivity, quality, safety, and customer outcomes. Drive measurable improvements in labor-to-revenue (LTR) performance, labor efficiency, throughput, order accuracy, inventory accuracy, and service-level attainment. Analyze operational performance data to identify trends, root causes, bottlenecks, and opportunities for process optimization. Lead Kaizen events, process mapping exercises, root cause analyses, and other Lean methodologies to eliminate waste and improve workflows. Develop and implement standardized operating procedures and best practices across supported fulfillment centers. Collaborate with clients and operational leadership to improve service delivery, strengthen client relationships, and drive positive client business reviews. Partner with Operations, Engineering, IT, Finance, HR, and Customer Success teams to implement scalable process improvements and operational solutions. Support new client launches, process transitions, and operational readiness initiatives by ensuring efficient and scalable workflows. Build business cases and ROI analyses for operational improvement opportunities, technology investments, and automation initiatives. Monitor and communicate project progress, key performance indicators, and realized business impact to leadership stakeholders. Champion a culture of continuous improvement by coaching leaders and teams on Lean principles, problem-solving methodologies, and accountability for results. Identify opportunities to improve employee engagement, retention, and team effectiveness through better processes, leadership practices, and operational consistency. Who You Are You are passionate about continuous improvement and enjoy solving complex operational challenges through data-driven decision making. You possess strong influencing skills and can build partnerships across multiple functions and levels of leadership without direct authority. You are highly analytical and able to translate operational data into actionable recommendations and measurable business outcomes. You excel at balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution. You are an effective communicator who can present complex findings and recommendations to frontline leaders, clients, and executive stakeholders. You have a customer-first mindset and understand the critical relationship between operational performance and client satisfaction. You thrive in fast-paced environments and can successfully manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. You are a change agent who can inspire adoption of new processes and hold teams accountable for sustainable improvements. What You've Done 7+ years of experience in fulfillment, distribution, supply chain, logistics, manufacturing, or continuous improvement environments that use automation. 3+ years of experience within a 3PL, fulfillment, or high-volume distribution operation. Proven success influencing executive stakeholders through data-driven recommendations, business cases, and operational performance analyses. Proven track record of leading operational improvement initiatives that delivered measurable gains in productivity, service levels, quality, cost savings, or client satisfaction. Experience applying Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, Root Cause Analysis, or similar continuous improvement methodologies. Demonstrated success improving labor efficiency, workforce productivity, and operational KPIs in a warehouse or distribution environment. Experience partnering with senior operational leaders and influencing change across complex organizations. Strong working knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), labor management tools, and operational reporting platforms. Experience building business cases, developing ROI analyses, and tracking project benefits realization. Proven ability to manage multiple cross-functional initiatives from concept through implementation and sustainment. Nice to Haves Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, or equivalent process improvement certification. Experience supporting multi-client 3PL environments. Exposure to warehouse automation, robotics, labor management systems, or industrial engineering principles. Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business, or a related field. Experience presenting operational improvement strategies and results to executive leadership and clients. Bilingual (English/Spanish) Physical Demands & Working Conditions: Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching Occasional lifting and carrying of up to 50 lbs Ability to maintain focus and attention for extended periods Willingness to work overtime as needed Exposure to warehouse machinery and variable environmental conditions Cart.com is an equal opportunity employer.
