About the Role Virchow Medical is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Custodian to help maintain our approximately 7,000-square-foot laboratory and office facility in Sorrento Valley. We are a small team, making this a light part-time position focused on maintaining a clean, organized, safe, and professional work environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. General cleaning and upkeep of office areas, common spaces, and approved laboratoryareas
2. Sweep, vacuum, and mop floors
3. Clean and sanitize restrooms
4. Empty trash receptacles and replace liners
5. Dust and wipe down approved surfaces
6. Clean doors, interior glass, and high-touch surfaces
7. Wash and put away breakroom dishes, cups, and utensils
8. Maintain kitchen and breakroom cleanliness and organization
9. Restock restroom, kitchen, and cleaning supplies
10. Maintain entrances and common areas
11. Keep cleaning equipment and supplies organized
12. Notify management of maintenance or facility issues
13. Follow facility safety, security, and cleaning procedures

Laboratory Environment Notice: Laboratory areas may require specific cleaning procedures. The Custodian will not handle biological specimens, chemicals, reagents, sharps, medical waste, laboratory glassware, or laboratory equipment unless specifically trained and authorized.

Qualifications

• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
• Able to follow written cleaning and safety procedures
• Able to perform routine physical cleaning tasks
• Comfortable working in a professional laboratory environment
• Respectful of confidential and restricted work areas
• Experience in a medical, laboratory, pharmaceutical, or other professional facility is helpful but not required.
• Operates an independent cleaning business evidenced by business licenses, advertising, commercial insurance, or independent invoicing.

Work Schedule

Approximately 6–8 hours per week, ideally divided between two visits per week. Scheduling can be flexible and mutually agreed upon based on availability.

Additional hours may be available periodically for deep-cleaning projects or as company operations grow.
