CNC Machinist IV - 1st Shift

The CNC Machinist IV produces machined parts by operating, setting up and programming computer numerical control (CNC) machines while maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records, and maintaining equipment and supplies. This role requires continuous improvement, customer-driven innovation, and a win‑first culture, meeting company financial and performance metrics. Responsibilities Operate, set up, and program CNC machines within specified tolerances following work instructions and engineering drawings. Propose new production setups and change offsets/tooling in machines as part of new setups. Perform advanced CNC machining, including progressive machining of various parts and metals where tolerances must be tightly controlled. Read and evaluate blueprints or specifications. Troubleshoot and solve CNC programs and processes. Improve and produce work instructions. Redesign fixtures to increase quality standards and productivity. Act as subject‑matter expert in the field (e.g., lead in training, programming). Change dull tooling and make minor offsets and adjustments for tooling wear. Ensure product quality by meeting operator‑owned quality (OOQ) standards, using measuring equipment and interpreting readings. Propose adjusted feeds and speeds for varying machining requirements. Perform routine maintenance per daily machine checklist and preventive maintenance schedule. Perform hand finishing. Follow Good Manufacturing and Good Document Practices (GMP/GDP), completing job routers/cards. Ensure safe working practices, minimizing risks by identifying and reporting safety, health & environmental issues. Achieve productivity targets and identify ways to improve productivity. Record all activities promptly on the job tracking system. Identify and support continuous improvement activities. Escalate manufacturing issues to the team leader and/or supervisor, participating in resolution as required. Maintain 5S/housekeeping standards within the work area. Perform other duties or special projects as required or assigned by supervisor. Qualification Requirements High School diploma or general education degree (GED). 8+ years CNC machining experience. Experience/Educational/Training Preferred GCSE/NVQ Maths and English (UK only). Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Operate, set up, and maintain CNC machines. Run multiple CNC machines. Set up, adjust offsets, and run development and production jobs. Program with supervision. Solid math skills, including measuring and record keeping. Plan, prioritize, and organize tasks, meeting specified timescales. Read and follow technical drawings and instructions. Proven record of quality and on‑time production runs. Commitment to safety. Attention to detail and ability to perform repetitive tasks over time. Positive attitude, reliability, and teamwork. Problem‑solving ability. Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to train new or lower‑level machinists.
