This role is part of a collaborative group of APPs, physicians, and residents who provide comprehensive inpatient care for hospitalized children during the midnight shift. Responsibilities include admitting and discharging pediatric patients, performing clinical assessments, managing medications, conducting diagnostic evaluations, coordinating care with consulting services, and addressing overnight clinical needs. This position offers a consistent overnight schedule with rotating weekends. Providing pediatric-sensitive, developmentally appropriate care is central to this role. Working in collaboration with a physician in formulating treatment plans for health problems and follow-up./liliWriting prescriptions for medication, blood products based upon laboratory results, routine diagnostic and follow-up studies, therapeutic measures, and post-discharge care in accordance with written practice protocols./liliDetermining eligibility of patients for entry into clinical trials based on findings./liliRequesting written consultation from physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure appropriate and quality patient care./liliInterpreting and evaluating findings of studies/tests./liliRelaying appropriate information regarding patient care to the collaborating physician./liliAdministering therapeutic measures and obtaining specimens as prescribed./liliEvaluating the quality of care provided and recommending changes for improvement./liliInitiating appropriate actions to facilitate the implementation of therapeutic plans that are consistent with the continuing healthcare needs of the client./liliDictating follow-up letters to referring physicians with summaries of treatment, response, and plan./liliMaintaining provision of preventive health services (e.g. screening, risks assessment, immunizations, PAP smears, self-breast exam)./liliDictating or writing patient history, admissions, care plans, progress, and discharge notes./liliInteracting with program assistants and data managers for optimal patient care./liliAssisting in the management of family dynamics and coping mechanisms during acute and chronic phases of patient care./liliConducting or participating in daily multidisciplinary rounds and ensuring appropriate and quality care for assigned patient./liliPerforming patient triage and determining the urgency of physicians evaluation./liliProviding symptom management for side effects related to oncologic treatment./li/ulpStandard qualifications include:/pulliMasters Degree in Nursing OR a Masters in Physician Assistant studies/lili1 year of Inpatient Pediatric experience is preferred./liliState of Michigan Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant license required/liliAHA/ARC BLS certification required/liliPALS is required/liliNRP is required/li/ulpThis is where extraordinary begins.
