Position Registered Nurse (RN) – Clinical Nurse Lead – Main ED Days Schedule & Shift Full time, Day Shift Overview The Tucson Medical Center (TMC) Emergency Department is the busiest in Southern Arizona, serving over 95,000 patients annually. The department contains 54 beds distributed across four pods (North, South, East, and West) and operates with a staffing ratio of 1:4 that flexes based on acuity. All nurses are required to hold CPR, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications. Summary The Clinical Nurse Leader is responsible for the assessment, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of safe and effective patient‑centered care within the ED. The role includes mentoring staff, ensuring adequate resources for shifts, coordinating admissions, transfers, and discharges, and upholding professional standards of practice. Performance Improvement Report and analyze near‑misses, adverse events, and patient complaints. Lead rounds, identify improvement opportunities, and conduct real‑time corrections. Ensure proper handoff communication and accurate documentation. Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and unit‑based process improvement projects. Attend and complete PCI training sessions. Accountability Ensure timely completion of all documentation and shift reports. Optimize staffing and resources to meet patient care needs. Manage supply levels and equipment utilization. Provide disciplinary action as needed under nursing manager guidance. Facilitate real‑time service recovery to maintain patient satisfaction. Communication Coordinate patient care across units and communicate with staffing offices. Attend staff meetings and contribute to agenda topics. Maintain professional, respectful communication standards. Professionalism Adhere to TMC and state regulatory policies and ethical standards. Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams. Model leadership, conflict resolution, and team‑building skills. Participate in peer interview and quality improvement activities. Minimum Qualifications Graduates of a nationally accredited nursing program. One year of acute care nursing experience (two years preferred). Current RN licensure in Arizona and Basic Life Support certification. Knowledge of critical care techniques, rapid response, and stroke protocols. Familiarity with electrophysiology, cardiac cath lab, and surgical postoperative care (for applicable positions). Proficiency with electronic health record systems (e.g., NRCPR) and Microsoft Office applications. Strong analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
