Are you an experienced manufacturing Buyer who enjoys negotiating with suppliers, solving problems, and ensuring manufacturing operations have the materials they need to succeed? MMT is looking for a Buyer II to join our Supply Chain team in St. George, Utah!
This is an opportunity for an experienced purchasing professional who enjoys taking ownership of complex sourcing decisions, managing high-value purchases, and making a measurable impact on manufacturing operations.
As a Buyer II, you'll independently manage purchasing and replenishment activities for assigned commodities and suppliers, negotiate competitive pricing, and ensure critical materials arrive on time to support production schedules.
You'll work closely with Engineering, Production, Quality, and Supply Chain leadership while serving as a resource and mentor to less experienced buyers. If you're organized, proactive, and thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, we'd love to hear from you!

- Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on pricing, quality, availability, and service.
- Develop bidder lists and lead RFQs and proposals for complex or high-value purchases.
- Negotiate supplier pricing, contracts, terms, and long-term supply agreements to achieve the best overall value.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
- Evaluate supplier performance using scorecards and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Lead supplier audits and coordinate corrective actions to improve quality and delivery performance.
Order Management & Inventory Support
- Create, track, and manage purchase orders to ensure materials arrive on time.
- Manage Material Requirements Planning (MRP) processes, including blanket orders and long-term supply agreements.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with planning and production teams to support manufacturing schedules.
- Track and expedite deliveries to prevent material shortages and production delays.
- Resolve backorders, purchasing discrepancies, vendor returns, and nonconforming materials.
- Maintain accurate part setup data, including costs, lead times, and purchasing factors.
- Reconcile supplier quotes and invoices, authorize payments, and maintain purchasing records.
Cost Reduction & Supply Chain Improvements
- Identify opportunities to improve purchasing efficiency and reduce costs.
- Lead cost and price analysis, value-cost analysis, and cost-reduction initiatives.
- Identify supply chain risks, including single-source suppliers, long lead times, and material obsolescence, and develop mitigation plans.
- Prepare purchasing reports, analyze performance metrics, and provide recommendations to Supply Chain leadership.
- Support improvements to purchasing processes and supplier performance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Team Development
- Work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Warehouse teams to understand material requirements and priorities.
- Communicate supplier updates, delivery changes, and material availability to internal stakeholders.
- Help resolve purchasing and supplier-related issues that could impact production schedules.
- Review engineering drawings and schematics to support sourcing and purchasing decisions.
- Serve as a resource and mentor to Buyer I and junior purchasing team members, providing guidance and supporting training.
- Support cross-training and knowledge sharing across the Supply Chain team.
