Position Overview The Buyer supports the Procurement Department to ensure the best cost and highest quality materials and services are purchased and delivered on time to support the organization through all 1‑800‑Flowers.com channels of business. The Buyer determines the quantity and required delivery date, places purchase orders, and coordinates with suppliers to resolve issues, manage payment exceptions, and maintain accurate closed‑loop PO cycles. The Buyer analyzes demand signals, balances inventory value with service levels, and makes assortment recommendations based on economic factors. What You’ll Do Perform business analysis on demand signals, using SAP, Oracle, Access databases or other tools to determine material requisitions, MOQs, quantity discounts, and timing. Determine the best purchasing, delivery, and timing strategy based on business constraints and financial impact. Manage inventory supply and stocking levels, transact purchases and payments, place purchase orders, and ensure communication to suppliers. Track orders with suppliers and transportation, verify ASN/TSN, resolve PO date and delivery method changes. Manage supply exceptions and determine resolution for supply, vendor and payment issues, collaborating with operations, merchants, QA, merchandise planners and production planners. Support duties of others on the Purchasing Team when necessary and perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum 4‑year bachelor’s degree in business, related field, or equivalent experience. 2+ years of demonstrated experience with strategic planning, resource allocation, production methods, and coordination of people and resources. 2+ years of knowledge and execution of principles and methods for moving goods by air, rail, sea, or road, including relative costs and benefits. Experience with raw materials, production processes, goods and services, quality control, costs, and techniques for maximizing effective manufacture and distribution. Strong business solution skills with a focus on vendor relationships built on cooperation and mutual interests. Logical reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions. Ability to assess relative costs and benefits to choose the most appropriate action. Purchase and negotiation experience is a plus. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel.
