Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 25-bed Progressive Care Unit serving a heavy neuro trauma, neurosurgery, craniectomy, and orthopedic patient population
• Manage drip therapies including Heparin, PCAs, and 3% Sodium (no titration required)
• Perform EKG strip reading, measuring, and telemetry monitoring; utilize specialty equipment including chest tubes and Airvo
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5-6 and adhere to unit protocols and safety standards
• Float across multiple campuses as required to support staffing needs
• Document and manage patient care using EPIC EMR

• Minimum 24 months of recent experience in a Medical Surgical, IMCU, Stepdown, or Progressive Care setting within a hospital or medical center
• Experience in neurology/neurosurgery care
• Experience in orthopedic/ortho care
• Drip experience: Heparin, PCA, and 3% Sodium/Na
• EKG/strip reading, measuring, and telemetry experience
• Active Iowa RN license or active Compact/Multistate RN license at time of submission
• Active AHA or ARC ACLS certification required
• Active AHA or ARC BLS certification required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Must have completed at least one travel assignment within the previous 12 months (no first-time travelers)
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible (based on driver's license)
• Candidates are expected to work 1-2 of the upcoming winter holidays unless the unit is closed

• Trauma Level I care experience
• Experience with specialty equipment including telemetry, chest tubes, and Airvo
• NIHSS certification (may be obtained during onboarding)
• De-escalation certificate (CPI, MOAB, MAB, or SAMA accepted)
