Part-Time Lecturer — Physics & Astronomy (Inclusive Teaching)

Position Details College of Natural and Social Sciences – Department of Physics and Astronomy at Cal State LA seeks part‑time faculty lecturers for the 2026‑27 academic year. Positions will be filled as needed for each semester. Firm appointments are conditional on enrollment and budget. Initial appointments are typically for one semester, but may be for an academic year. Appointments may be renewed in accordance with departmental needs, funding, and performance. Appointments are usually made just prior to the start of the semester, so availability on short notice may be required. Minimum Qualifications Candidate must hold an accredited degree. For lower‑division undergraduate courses a master’s or doctoral degree is required. For upper‑division undergraduate or graduate courses a doctoral degree is required. A master’s degree with demonstrated expertise in applied areas may be considered for upper‑division laboratory instruction. Demonstrated excellence in college‑level teaching, commitment to student‑centered learning, and proficiency in written and oral English are required. Applicants should be able to work effectively in a multiethnic, multicultural environment and demonstrate a commitment to engagement, service, and the public good. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with diverse populations and fostering inclusive environments. Relevant work experience and training. A doctoral or other terminal degree. Duties Instruction, class preparation, grading, and office hours. Other duties may be assigned based on departmental needs. Course assignments, including dates, time, and modality, are determined by the Department Chair under the direction of the College Dean.
