POSITION OBJECTIVE

The Meadows Café barista is responsible for making coffee and tea-based beverages. In addition, the barista should be providing a high level of service and hospitality to all guests that frequent the café outlet and taking food orders to items that pertain to the café offerings.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Greeting customers in a friendly manner and taking food and beverage orders Preparing and serving beverages such as drip coffee, espresso-based drinks, tea and other specialty drinks Preparing and serving food items such as soups, sandwiches and pastries Answering guest questions about menu choices as well as promoting and recommending menu options to guests Utilizing the point of sale system for order taking and payment from guests Maintaining espresso machines, grinders, coffee machines and other equipment by cleaning, troubleshooting and scheduling repairs Keeping the work environment and cafe seating area clean, sanitary and organized Responding to and resolving guest concerns or complaints Evaluating and modifying processes to improve efficiency and quality of service Attracting new guests and refining the menu

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

High School diploma or equivalent and/or experience in a hotel or a related field preferred.

Strong verbal and written communication skills with guests, team members, and management. Active listening and problem-solving abilities to address and resolve guest or employee concerns. Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated initiative and ability to anticipate guest and operational needs. Strong organizational skills with attention to cleanliness, efficiency, and productivity. Ability to apply and understand information, policies, and procedures to achieve operational goals. Flexibility to cross-train in other areas of hotel operations as needed. Professional appearance and grooming in compliance with company standards, including wearing the proper uniform and nametag. Consistent attendance and punctuality aligned with business needs.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Flexible and long hours are sometimes required. Light to medium work-Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Ability to stand during the entire shift. Must be able to maneuver throughout the dining area

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Primary work takes place in Meadows Cafe area with exposure to a fast-paced, guest-facing environment. May be required to deliver room service orders to guest rooms, including traveling outdoors in varying weather conditions. May be exposed to moderate noise levels, hot and cold temperatures, and food and beverage handling.
