The business area supports the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Navy and Missile Defense Agency, as well as intelligence, civil, commercial and international military customers.THE WORKThe Sr. Process Engineer will lead composite process development work in Owego, defining new processes that improve both yield and cost savings. They will also serve as an integral member of the team working with adhesives and sealants for our circuit‑board manufacturing line.In this role you will:• Lead the development and optimization of composite manufacturing processes, applying innovative techniques to increase yield and reduce production costs.• Design, test, and qualify adhesive and sealant applications for circuit‑board assemblies, ensuring reliability and performance across defense programs.• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams—including materials, quality, and manufacturing engineering—to integrate process improvements into high‑volume production.• Analyze process data, identify root‑cause defects, and implement corrective actions that drive continuous improvement.• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of excellence and safety.• Support the transfer of new processes from pilot to full‑scale manufacturing, coordinating with supply chain and production leadership.WHO YOU AREYou are a results‑driven process engineer with deep expertise in composite materials and adhesive/sealant technologies, capable of leading yield‑focused development and cost‑reduction initiatives while collaborating effectively across multidisciplinary teams.WHY JOIN USIn this role you will have the opportunity to shape advanced composite and adhesive processes that directly support mission‑critical defense systems and a diverse portfolio of customers.Our benefits are built to match the caliber of your work. Learn more about Lockheed Martin’s comprehensive benefits packageBasic Qualifications:• 2+ years demonstrated experience with non metallic materials such as sealants, adhesives, polymers, or composites.• Ability to develop and qualify manufacturing processes, working closely with machine shop and finishing teams.• Familiarity with material property testing, ASTM standards, and failure analysis methodologies.• Direct project or work experience that includes prototype build up, test execution, and data analysis.Desired Skills:• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Materials Science & Engineering (or an equivalent mix of education and professional experience).• Autoclave/ Heat Treatment cure cycle development expertise• Ability to set up/transition new equipment and new manufacturing technologies. • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and detailed specifications.• Knowledge to create and revise material and process specifications, reports, and test plans.• Experience preparing and delivering technical presentations.• Knowledgeable of general manufacturing and integration processesSecurity Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.Clearance Level: SecretOther Important Information You Should KnowExpression of Interest: By applying to this job, you are expressing interest in this position and could be considered for other career opportunities where similar skills and requirements have been identified as a match. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per weekPay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $70,100 - $123,625. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays. (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.This position is incentive plan eligible.Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York is $80,600 - $139,840.
