Location & Shift Location: Avera McKennan Hospital Work Type: Regular Shift: Day Shift (United States of America) Hours: 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m., Monday through Friday (no weekends or holidays) Pay Range: $27.75 – $41.25 per hour (actual pay dependent on experience) Position Highlights Eligible for a $3,000 sign‑on bonus Perform venous and central venous specimen collections for the oncology patient population Located in the Prairie Center, serving Avera Cancer Institute clinic patients Responsibilities Provides patient care by reviewing physician prescriptions, communicating the nursing care plan, coordinating with other healthcare providers and supporting patients, families, and friends. Develops nursing care plans by obtaining medical histories, examining patients, documenting physical condition and psychosocial factors, and developing nursing diagnoses and objectives. Conducts patient education, instructs patients and families on condition, medications, and self‑care, and answers questions. Evaluates patient care by adhering to therapeutic standards and measuring outcomes. Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy patient care environment, following infection‑control policies, medication administration and storage procedures, and regulated substance protocols. Documents patient care services with accurate charting in patient and department records. Maintains patient care equipment, ensuring proper operation and preventive maintenance. Ensures patient supplies are stocked, anticipating needs, placing orders, and verifying receipt. Maintains competence in nursing capabilities outlined by leadership. Qualifications Required: High School or GED equivalent Registered Nurse (RN) – active Board of Nursing license in the state of practice Ability to work the specified hours Adequate visual acuity and effective communication skills Preferred: Associate’s Degree 1–3 years of experience in a clinical environment Expectations and Standards Commit to the daily application of Avera’s mission, vision, core values, and social principles.
