Sr. Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Sr. Mechanical Engineer to provide advanced mechanical engineering expertise in the design and development of medical equipment and related systems. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in mechanical design, DFM/DFA, CAD modeling, prototyping, testing, manufacturing processes, and medical device/equipment development.

• Applies expertise as an emerging authority in the mechanical engineering discipline.

• Conceives and develops solutions to difficult analytical and pneumatic/mechanical/electrical design problems.

• Participates in establishing system or component design objectives and writes portions of complex specifications and engineering reports.

• Reviews and helps to develop product specifications.

• Conducts conceptual design studies using MCAD and other applicable design tools.

• Collaborates with other engineering functions throughout the design and development process.

• Develops prototype hardware using internal manufacturing resources and outside vendors.

• Tests products to verify that designs meet specification requirements, including environmental, regulatory, and safety requirements.

• Generates documentation supporting the design.

• Provides training, technical advice, and guidance to junior engineers.

• Provides technical or project-related guidance as a Project Leader or Lead Engineer for small- to medium-sized projects.

• Strong knowledge of Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFM&A) , including cost, tooling, and process considerations; experience with SolidWorks CAD is preferred.

• Understanding of the design and development of:

  • Injection-molded plastics

  • Plastic extrusion

  • Casting

  • Sheet metal

  • Metal stampings

  • Additive manufacturing processes

• Knowledge of mechanical design and development using metric, ANSI, and ISO dimensioning and drafting standards .

The position will be responsible for interpreting customer specifications, developing mechanical designs and drawings, creating prototypes, performing analysis and testing, troubleshooting design and processing issues, and supporting design verification and documentation activities.

• Interprets customer specifications to define requirements for mechanical designs.
