What MatX Is BuildingMatX is seeking engineers with strong Rust skills to join our team as we create best-in-class silicon for high-performance and sustainable GenAI. We are looking for engineers to support work in these areas: Infrastructure, Performance, Runtime, Tooling/Testing, Verification.What You'll Do HereUse your experience to expand upon and build new infrastructure and tooling to support hardware and/or software teams. Design/implement our Rust based simulatorBuild the host-side interface library Write tests that systematically explore corner cases and rare event sequences — both targeted tests and tests that use randomization to find surprisesWork across hardware, architecture and software teams to turn specifications into concrete, testable propertiesWho You AreProficient in production Rust — you've shipped real systems. You're comfortable with ownership, traits, generics with bounds, and enums as sum types. You understand why Result is better than exceptions and what the borrow checker is actually protecting you from3+ years of experienceStrong engineering fundamentals — you write clean, well-tested, well-documented code and are comfortable with build systems, version control, and CI workflowsComfortable with low-level systems concepts: memory layout, concurrency, bit manipulationGenuinely interested in hardware and willing to ramp quicklyThis is a remote (with travel) or hybrid role based in Mountain ViewBonus Points If You HaveExperience with hardware in any capacity — FPGA projects, embedded systems, robotics, or prior roles touching hardware engineering; Accelerators are a huge plusExperience with foreign function interfaces — Rust FFI is ideal, but any experience crossing language boundaries is valuableFormal methods, model checking, or property-based testing (e.g., proptest, Kani)Understanding of computer architecture: pipelines, caches, memory hierarchies, on-chip interconnectsFamiliarity with ML Systems/FrameworksCompensationThe US base salary for this full-time position is determined based on a variety of factors including role, experience, location, job related skills, and relevant education and training.
