Health Information ManagementEnsure that all health information being managed within the HIM department meets legal, medical, and ethical standards, while ensuring that medical records are accurate, complete, and timely.Required Skills/Qualifications/Training/Experience:Self-starter with a strong sense of ownership and the ability to work independently on assigned tasks as appropriateExcellent command of verbal and written English; positive interpersonal communication dynamic with strong organizational skillsAbility to clearly, accurately and professionally present and explain complex information to patients, employees, and managersExcellent telephone skillsDetail oriented with the ability to prioritize and plan work activities efficientlyAbility to multi-task, handle interruptions and work effectively in a fast-paced, professional environmentRequires outstanding oral and written communication skills in working with all stakeholders, including providers, internal and external customers, peers and colleaguesProficiency in technology usage, including Microsoft office softwareAbility to operate general office equipment to include personal computer, CD burner, scanner, printer, telephone, fax and copy machineTroubleshoot computer or system failures with IT to resolve downtime situations timelyAbility to work under minimal supervision, while maintaining optimal quality and productivity of workResponsible for safeguarding patient records and ensuring compliance with HIPAA standardsPreferred Skills/Qualifications/Training/Experience:One year or more of Health Information Management experience, with one year or more of office/clerical/computer experienceEffective maintenance and control of Master Patient Index (MPI) fileAdmissions processing, release of information/verbal requests processing for internal and external requestorsExperience Cerner a plusA.S. Health Information Technology or B.S.
