Tool and die maker responsible for fashioning precision tools and dies that will be used to form, shape, or cut materials. Responsibilities include:

• Study blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies.
• File, grind, shim, and adjust different parts to properly fit them together.
• Conduct test runs with completed tools or dies to ensure that parts meet specifications; make adjustments as necessary.
• Inspect finished dies for smoothness, contour conformity, and defects.
• Use jigs, fixtures, and templates as work aids in the fabrication of parts or products.
• Complete daily department reports
• Fit and assemble parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools, using machine tools and hand tools.
• Troubleshooting dies in the press and on the bench to make parts to point and run at rate.
• Assist with tool and die apprentice training
• Additional items as assigned by manager

This position interacts with other trades in and outside their area including Press Operators, Quality Control, Project Managers, and Engineering.
