This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Okaloosa Correctional Institution in the Classification Department. Our mission in the Classification Department is to accurately assess and classify inmates based on their needs, risks, and behaviors. We ensure appropriate housing and program placements within the correctional system. Our goal is to enhance safety and security while promoting effective rehabilitation, ultimately aiding in the successful reintegration of inmates into society. This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

Join our dynamic team and make a real impact! This exciting position involves managing inmates through a collaborative case management approach, ensuring their needs are met with effective communication and resources. Key responsibilities include:

• Conducting periodic and unscheduled assessments to track inmate progress, set positive adjustment goals, and motivate inmates to achieve them.
• Developing comprehensive inmate management plans and identifying needs and risks.
• Planning and coordinating targeted referrals for treatment, programs, work, and services to meet both inmate and departmental needs.
• Collaborating with various areas for optimal outcomes.
• Evaluating diverse information sources, such as reports, interviews, and observations, to make informed decisions on inmate management.
• Maintaining accurate and detailed inmate records in the Offender Based Information System (OBIS) and other necessary applications.
• Leading disciplinary hearings, making custody and reclassification recommendations, and handling special status inmate reviews.
• Ensuring all eligible inmates receive appropriate gain time awards.

Requirements include meeting four (4) of the six (6) listed qualifications OR having a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Experience in case management that uses assessments, planning, coordination, and evaluation to meet the individuals' needs. Experience reviewing, auditing, analyzing, and/or proofreading data. Experience applying laws, applicable rules, and procedures. Experience or training in the use of the Offender Based Information System (OBIS) and/or related computer programs or applications. Experience with Microsoft applications such Word, Excel, and/or PowerPoint. Experience responding to grievances, inmate requests, or other correspondence.

Preferred qualifications include a bachelor's degree, four years' experience in caseload management; or four years' experience analyzing data and/or interpreting rules/statutes. Must possess a valid driver's license.

Additional information includes a background screening requirement and employment eligibility. The Florida Department of Corrections requires all job applicants and volunteers to pass a Level 2 background check as per Chapter 435, Florida Statutes. This check must be completed before they can start working or volunteering.
