Plant Controller

As our Plant Controller, you will be part of the Operations Finance Team, supporting Aerospace Transparencies operations as a member of the Huntsville plant leadership team. You will contribute to and lead performance improvement plans within the facility. Using detailed and insightful analytics, you will identify opportunities to enhance productivity and reduce costs. You will collaborate cross-functionally to ensure alignment, engagement, and progress toward clearly defined project goals and deliverables.You will report to the Aerospace Operations Finance Manager based at the company headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. We ask that you work onsite at our plant in Huntsville, AL, according to our hybrid schedule with annual travel to our Pittsburgh headquarters. Additionally, you will have direct supervisory responsibility for one team member, Operations Finance Analyst, Huntsville, who is based at the Pittsburgh headquarters.PPG offers excellent Medical, Dental, & Vision Benefits; matching 401k + retirement savings; and Paid Vacation, Holiday pay.Main Responsibilities:BUSINESS ANALYSIS AND DECISION SUPPORT (Local Partner)Participate in plant meetings to provide insight on results, collect information and challenge performanceLead plant projects to control costs of productionFocus on and improving productivity through analytics and cross functional projects including scrap, productivity, capacity use and addressing bottle necksPush relevant information and analytics to guide local decision-makingProvide variance analysis and full understanding of plant level results and explaining results and variances to Operations leadership and Business Unit FinancePLANNING AND FINANCIAL SUPPORTPartner with the Operations plant team and the Operations Finance Analyst in the plant wide budget process coordinating all departments and promoting productivity and cost savings plans and targetsPartner with the Operations Finance Analyst and Operations plant team in developing short and long-term reliable estimates of the level of expenses to be incurred by the plant related to expected volumesComplete month end closing activities such as preparation or approval of journal entries, review of account balances and explanation and presentation of resultsPLANT INVESTMENTPartner with plant leadership to develop and execute a strategic roadmap for capital spending, ensuring critical projects are completed on time, on budget and are embedded in plansConduct post-completion analysis of critical investments (capital or otherwise) to ensure main deliverables, both financial and operational, are metINVENTORY CONTROL AND PRODUCT COSTINGWork with demand and supply teams to ensure visibility and optimize inventory health in raw materials, WIP, and finished goodsSupport Plant Operations team as the on-site liaison to optimize inventoryEnsure inventory accuracy and improve areas around excess and obsolete inventory and scrapWork with the Operations Finance Analyst to ensure that product cost reflects plant operations at a product levelQualifications:Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting6+ years of experiencePrior manufacturing financial support experience requiredStrong communication and leadership skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsTravel at least annually to the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania PPG headquarter locationHow we work: At PPG, we bring teams together to accelerate collaboration and career development, with in-person work Monday through Thursday and the opportunity to work remotely on Flexible Fridays.
