Engine Build Mechanic

The Engine Build Mechanic is responsible for performing engine builds, updates, and inspections on prototype and production engines. The Mechanic will follow directions to achieve expected torques, clearances, and assembly requested by engineering. As a UAW salaried represented employee, the individual is subject to any dues required by Local/National agreements. Location(s) Requirements Qualified candidates for this position will be expected to perform the following duties: Perform mechanical support associated with engine and transmission testing: Engine Build Experience Part changes (cylinder heads, exhaust manifolds, etc.) Engine teardown (torques, data collection, reviewing build books) Interact on a day-to-day basis with powertrain development engineers to perform work on a test article Basic Qualifications Minimum of a High School Diploma Minimum of 1 year of general mechanic knowledge and specific experience with engines. Possess overall good fabrication skills having a high mechanical aptitude and deductive reasoning. Willingness to work in a team-based environment Basic knowledge of operating a computer Possession of a mechanics toolbox and hand tool set Preferred Qualifications Possess skills for MIG & TIG welding on metals including stainless steel, mild steel, cast iron, and aluminum.
