Together, we are doing great things for the community we call home. Description The Assistant Branch Manager assists the Branch Manager in the following tasks. They are primarily service focused but is also responsible for staffing, safety and security, revenue generation, financial management, reporting and oversight and compliance with all regulations. The Assistant Branch Manager leads the branch team to attract new business with the goal of growing the branch deposit and loan portfolio to increase branch profitability. In addition, the Assistant Branch Manager is responsible for the professional development of branch staff to include coaching, guiding, training, and motivating each team member. The Assistant Branch Manager serves as the member's primary point of contact, building rapport with members and the community and will take ownership of member issues from start to finish. He/she is a keen problem solver who is comfortable taking the initiative to do what's right. The Assistant Branch Manager keeps abreast of competitive intelligence, meaning what is happening in the local branch footprint, what other financial institutions are doing and what local businesses need. The Assistant Branch Manager is tasked with creating and implementing strategies to improve productivity and service performance in efforts to achieve the financial targets of the branch. The Assistant Branch Manager works under the supervision of the Branch Manager and performs other duties as directed. Service Excellence Support Branch Management in leading a branch team dedicated to delivering exceptional service to members by embracing our values - Trust, Teamwork and Excellence. Contribute positively to quarterly NPS goals and avoid negative feedback and comments on social media posts and public scoring sites such as Yelp and Google Reviews. Support the training of branch employees and meeting service expectations, including service quality audits. Operational Excellence Lead a branch team dedicated to operational excellence by ensuring staff are knowledgeable, engaged, trained, and focused on flawless execution. Strive to have all branch transactions and operations be error free. Manage risk by complying with regulations and understanding policies and procedures. Support and recommend ways to increase operational efficiency and effectiveness. Grow the Credit Union Lead a branch team dedicated to growing the credit union by attracting and retaining members that are highly engaged with Valley First and consider us their primary financial institution. Meet branch growth goals and objectives by executing branch-specific tactics to grow both loan and deposit portfolios. Keep staff informed and up to date through daily huddles, weekly bi-weekly staff meetings, and regular communication. Increase Member Value Lead a branch team dedicated to increasing member value by understanding member preferences, delivering unparalleled convenience and member choice that is fast, flexible, and free of bureaucracy. Ensure staff understands our products and effectively demonstrates features and benefits. Understand promotions and provide each member with customized financial solutions. Leverage localness by participating in local events (3-5 miles radius from branch location) such as community events, volunteer activities, and business network events. Staff Development Assist Branch Manager in the areas of training, general support, development, and motivation to retain a highly skilled and effective branch team. Provide staff with career growth opportunities and build a strong succession plan. Ensure all staff are accountable for individual goals and objectives. Manage staff schedules to meet member service expectations. Maintain a professional and engaging work environment. Ensure personnel issues are addressed immediately. Audit Oversee the branch audit processes for their branch. Review results, implement corrective action, and respond in written form to the Senior Management and Internal Audit teams. Ensure compliance with Credit Union, industry and regulatory policies and procedures. Experience, Education & Skills Two or more years of similar or related experience, including time spent in leadership positions within a financial institution, preferably the credit union movement. A two-year degree, preferred. A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required to be an effective subject matter expert in this position. In-depth dialogues, conversations, and explanations of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature with members, direct and indirect reports, outside vendors and executive leadership is a normal part of the day-to-day experience. Communications can involve motivating, influencing, coaching, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance. Salary Range & Schedule This position is an exempt Grade 10, with a salary range of $70,304.00 to $80,000.00 The anticipated pay rate for new hires is between the low-end and midpoint of the range, depending on experience. The pay rates listed above are based upon the geographic location of our Administrative Offices in Modesto, CA using the greater Central Valley area for our pay range calculations. The schedule for this position is based around branch operating hours which are as follows: Monday to Thursday - 9am to 5:30pm Friday - 9am to 6pm Saturday (rotating shifts) - 9am to 1pm Position Requirements Mental/Emotional Requirements Technical aptitude to understand complex programs and applications. Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills. Detail-oriented, organized, accurate and ability to adapt to change. Excellent decision making and time management skills. Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to trouble-shoot problems and research capabilities of current or proposed products. Physical Requirements Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. The incumbent is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; typing; viewing a computer screen and reading. Climb/descend stairs in an emergency situation. Operate routine office equipment including personal computers, copy machines, mobile and landline phones, calculator and others as needed. Maintain working on a computer for six to eight hours daily, on average. Work extended hours if required or requested by management. Regular, reliable and timely attendance. Working Conditions Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.
