Area Sales Manager, Alabama

Overview We are seeking an experienced Area Sales Manager to lead our high‑performing Field Sales Representatives across Alabama for the Medical‑Surgical Ambulatory Care Sales team. Location Preferred: Birmingham area; Huntsville or Montgomery also considered. Relocation assistance not available. Position Description The ASM will lead a tenured sales team, achieve financial objectives, support coaching, use analytics, partner with specialists, and drive strategic initiatives in Ambulatory Care. Key Responsibilities Achieve Financials & MBO Goals • Meet Gross Profit and MBO targets, conduct monthly RVP check‑ins, review performance plans, adjust tactics, and execute local strategies for growth. Embody Our Culture • Model ICARE and ILEAD behaviors, communicate key messaging, recognize reps, and foster a collaborative high‑performing team. Develop & Lead Your Team Coaching reps to maximize wallet share and fully leverage their book of business. Using data, reporting, and analytics to guide rep activity and performance improvement. Conducting ride‑alongs, co‑selling, and real‑time coaching. Leading effective team meetings, 1:1s, and performance discussions. Reinforcing accountability, engagement, and alignment to strategic priorities. Drive Strategic Growth Initiatives • Translate enterprise priorities into actionable territory strategies and balance local opportunities. Own Your Top Customers • Lead key account strategy, conduct business reviews, support retention and growth, and handle complex needs. Collaborate with Specialists • Partner with Sales Specialists, co‑develop strategies, and use analytics to prioritize opportunities. Use Technology & Analytics to Improve Results • Drive adoption of sales tools, reporting platforms, and CRM for forecasting accuracy and productivity. Minimum Requirements 9 years of professional experience. 1+ year of leadership experience with people directly or indirectly. Valid driver’s license; 7‑year MVR required as part of pre‑employment. Critical Skills Coaching and developing experienced sales professionals. Analytical and business acumen, using data to drive decisions. Engagement with C‑suite customers. Influencing, inspiring, and leading high‑performing teams. Performance management and leadership capabilities. Excellent communication and difficult conversation navigation. Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and CRM tools. Experience in distribution sales. Prior healthcare experience preferred. Education 4‑year degree in business or related field, or equivalent experience. Travel Daily travel within the territory, with some overnight travel required.
