Under the supervision of an RN, LPN, or shift manager, the Patient Care Assistant (PCA) delivers essential bedside care, ensuring patient comfort and safety.

Adhere to established safety protocols including infection control, safe patient handling, and timely communication of patient condition changes.

Perform basic care tasks such as monitoring vital signs, glucometer checks, assisting with toileting, feeding, bathing, and mobility activities.

Collaborate closely with nursing staff to promptly respond to patient needs and enhance their overall experience.

Accurately document all care activities to support clinical decision-making and team communication.

Effectively communicate relevant patient information to healthcare team members to improve outcomes.

High school diploma or GED is preferred.

At least one year of experience is preferred but not required.

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential through the state is preferred. Candidates without certification or with less than one year of experience must complete a specialized PCA training academy. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment; training is provided.

This role requires significant mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 pounds, standing, walking, bending, and other movements throughout the shift.

Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases is possible. Occasional encounters with difficult individuals may occur.
