Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist
Avera Health
Avera Health is seeking a skilled and compassionate Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team within our regional health system based in Sioux Falls, SD. As part of a collaborative, patient-centered care environment, you will provide comprehensive anesthesia services to individuals across the Upper Midwest, supporting Avera Health’s mission to improve healthcare while serving communities with respect and dignity.
In this role, you will deliver safe, high-quality anesthesia care for a wide range of surgical, procedural, and obstetric patients. You will conduct thorough pre-anesthesia evaluations, review medical histories, perform focused physical exams, and assess anesthesia-related risks. Working closely with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and perioperative nurses, you will develop and implement individualized anesthesia plans tailored to each patient’s needs and clinical condition.
Your responsibilities will include administering general, regional, monitored anesthesia care, and sedation using evidence-based techniques and current practice guidelines. You will manage airway and ventilation, including intubation and the use of supraglottic devices, and will continuously monitor patients’ vital signs, depth of anesthesia, and physiologic responses, making appropriate adjustments to medications, fluids, and support measures. You will provide perioperative pain management, including regional and neuraxial techniques where credentialed, and support patients throughout their recovery in the post-anesthesia care setting.
The CRNA will respond promptly to anesthesia-related and perioperative emergencies, demonstrating strong clinical judgment in managing hemodynamic instability, airway compromise, and other urgent situations. Accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record, adherence to Avera Health policies, and compliance with regulatory and professional standards are essential elements of this position.
At Avera Health, you will be part of a culture that emphasizes compassion, hospitality, and stewardship. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team committed to improving patient outcomes and enhancing the overall patient and family experience. You will participate in quality improvement initiatives, help implement best practices in anesthesia care, and engage in continuing education and professional development opportunities supported by our integrated healthcare network.
This is an on-site clinical role within our Healthcare & Medical Services department, ideal for a CRNA who values teamwork, clinical excellence, and meaningful connections with patients and colleagues. Avera Health offers a competitive compensation package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, retirement benefits, and opportunities for performance-based bonuses, as well as a supportive environment that encourages growth and advancement in your anesthesia practice.
