Our urgent care doctors have realized that most pets waiting in the emergency room do not require full critical care but rather convenient, quick attention. You will be utilizing state-of-the-art diagnostics and treatment protocols specific to acute medical needs. Our dedicated urgent care model allows you to focus purely on non-critical emergency cases, managing illness and injury in a structured environment. Summerville, South Carolina, known as The Flower Town in the Pines, offers an exceptional quality of life just outside the vibrant city of Charleston. PawMed Urgent Care is looking for a licensed veterinary technician to join our team. We are located in Charleston and Summerville. Our tentative schedule is 3 twelve-hour shifts per week. The pay range is $20–$30/hour. There is a sign-on bonus of $1000.

Our team structure includes:

• Typical shift staffing includes: 1 doctor, 2 nurses, 1 receptionist
• Walk-ins are welcomed
• Current medical team consists of: 4 full-time doctors, 2 relief doctors, 1 part-time doctor
• Recently hired a doctor with a strong surgical interest, including fracture repairs and pyometra cases, with plans to expand surgical offerings

Our patient load and services include:

• Average of 15–20 cases per day, with higher volume on weekends
• Focus on urgent and acute care cases
• Wellness services are being incorporated as urgent care case loads have slowed
• Technician responsibilities include: triage, blood draws, x-rays, animal restraint, strong technical/procedural skills

• Be a lifeline for patients in crisis: You'll be on the front lines, utilizing your full skillset in triage, stabilization, patient monitoring, and critical care under veterinarian supervision.
• Provide clarity in critical moments: You'll be a vital and calming link for pet owners, clearly explaining treatments, reviewing discharge instructions, and providing reassurance during stressful times.
• Lead and elevate your team: In a fast-paced setting, you'll guide and support your colleagues, ensuring a smooth workflow and fostering a focused, collaborative atmosphere.
• Ensure seamless care: Your clear and accurate record-keeping in a fast-paced environment will be crucial for patient handoffs, case management, and effective team communication.

What you'll bring to the team includes:

• A calm, efficient, and decisive approach, especially during medical emergencies.
• Graduate of an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technician program and a current state license in good standing.
• Proficiency in a range of technical skills, with a strong aptitude for emergency procedures, anesthesia monitoring, and critical care nursing.
• Confidence in handling animals of all temperaments and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills and a passion for working collaboratively under pressure.
• One year of experience in a veterinary setting is preferred; urgent care or emergency experience is a plus!
