Weld Shop Supervisor – Manufacturing

Location: Riverside, CA
Job Type: Direct Hire
Salary: $84,000 – $95,000/year DOE
Shift: 1st Shift
Schedule: Approximately 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM

Job Summary

FLAG Solutions is seeking an experienced Weld Shop Supervisor for a direct-hire opportunity with a manufacturing company located in Riverside, CA .

This position is responsible for leading daily weld shop operations, supervising production personnel, maintaining safety and quality standards, and ensuring welding and fabrication work is completed according to production schedules and customer requirements.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing supervision, welding, fabrication, and production leadership , with particular experience supporting MIG welding operations . Candidates with engineering education and long-term growth potential are strongly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily weld shop and fabrication operations.
• Lead and support welders, fabricators, and production personnel.
• Assign daily work based on production schedules, priorities, and staffing requirements.
• Monitor production output, quality, efficiency, and workflow.
• Ensure employees follow established welding procedures, work instructions, and manufacturing standards.
• Support production involving primarily MIG welding , along with some TIG welding and fabrication .
• Review drawings, blueprints, work instructions, and production requirements as needed.
• Coordinate with Quality, Engineering, Production, Maintenance, and other departments to resolve shop-floor issues.
• Monitor work-in-process and ensure production deadlines are met.
• Identify production bottlenecks and implement solutions to improve workflow.
• Ensure proper use and maintenance of welding equipment, fixtures, tools, and shop equipment.
• Maintain a strong focus on workplace safety and ensure employees follow PPE and safety requirements.
• Train, coach, and develop employees to improve performance and technical capabilities.
• Address attendance, performance, productivity, and employee-relations issues as appropriate.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within the weld shop.
• Maintain accurate production and supervisory documentation.
• Ensure the production area is clean, organized, and operating efficiently.

Education & Experience

Minimum education requirement:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Candidates with additional education are strongly preferred, including:

• Associate degree
• Bachelor's degree
• Engineering-related degree
• Industrial Engineering preferred
• Other engineering disciplines will also be considered.

Supervisory Experience

For candidates whose highest level of education is a High School Diploma/GED , significant manufacturing leadership experience will be required.

Preferred:

• 10+ years of supervisory experience in manufacturing, welding, fabrication, or a related production environment.

Candidates with approximately 8+ years of strong supervisory experience may also be considered depending on overall background.

Candidates with higher levels of education may be considered with less supervisory tenure depending on their manufacturing and leadership experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Weld Shop Supervisor, Welding Supervisor, Fabrication Supervisor, Manufacturing Supervisor, or Production Supervisor .
• Strong background in MIG welding operations.
• Working knowledge of TIG welding and fabrication.
• Experience supervising welders and fabrication personnel.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and manufacturing drawings.
• Experience within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of production schedules and workflow.
• Experience working closely with Quality and Engineering departments.
• Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to develop and train production employees.

Schedule Expectations

The standard production schedule is approximately:

6:00 AM – 2:30 PM

Because this is a supervisory position, candidates should understand that they are expected to be on the shop floor approximately 15 minutes before the start of the production shift and remain approximately 15 minutes after the shift ends to ensure the department is properly opened and closed.

Compensation

Salary Range: $84,000 – $95,000 annually DOE

Compensation will depend on leadership experience, manufacturing background, welding/fabrication knowledge, education, and overall qualifications.
