Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Pediatric Stepdown Duration: 12 Weeks Shift: Day 3x12-Hour; Night 3x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 Hours Experience: Minimum 2 Years Pediatric Cardiac Transitional Care/Step Down or PICU Experience License: Current RN License Certifications: BSN, BLS, PALS Must-Have: Candidates must be willing and able to float to other units and facilities as needed. Telemetry experience is preferred. Experience with arterial lines and central lines. Pediatric critical care, transitional care, and cardiac experience are essential. Description: This position involves working in a pediatric stepdown unit. You will provide nursing care to pediatric patients with cardiac conditions. Key responsibilities include monitoring patient vitals, administering medications, and managing medical equipment. You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and support families in the care process. Experience in administration of blood products and management of dysrhythmias is required. Phlebotomy skills, including IV starts and lab draws, are necessary. You will care for patients post cardiac catheterization, surgery, and pacemaker insertion. Working knowledge of infection control and isolation precautions is critical. Candidates should demonstrate competence in pediatric early warning scores and rapid response protocols. The unit supports a diverse patient population, including neonates, infants, adolescents, and pediatric patients. Daily patient census is typically around 9, with varying patient ratios across shifts. You will work alongside various support services, including physical therapy and respiratory services. Experience in interpreting dysrhythmias and managing central lines is required. This role demands strong communication skills and the ability to function in a fast-paced environment. You must be adaptable and ready to handle the unique challenges of pediatric care. All duties must align with facility policies and standards to ensure the highest level of patient care.
