Bus Driver

Bus Drivers drive a school bus over designated routes for the purpose of transporting students to and from school and on special trips. Drivers may be assigned to scheduled or floater routes.

Requirements / Qualifications

In order to be considered, applicants must submit the following by the final filing date: Completed Ed-Join Application Cover Letter Resume Current Letters of Recommendation current official DMV printout (H6) Minimum qualifications: Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or the equivalent. Ability to read and write sufficiently to perform all of the duties of the position including understanding applicable laws, regulations and codes required. Successful completion of 20 hours of classroom instruction related to skills and safety requirements for driving a school bus and successful completion of 20 hours of instruction behind the wheel of a school bus required. Licenses and Certificates: TB clearance, Criminal Justice Fingerprint clearance. Requires valid Commercial Driver's License; medical examination card; valid California Special Driver Certificate with SR Endorsement, and valid CPR and First Aid Certificate.

SUMMARY Bus Drivers drive a school bus over designated routes for the purpose of transporting students to and from school and on special trips. Drivers may be assigned to scheduled or floater routes. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS To advance to Bus Driver, incumbents must complete the required training and licensure. To advance beyond, incumbents can develop additional special competencies in instructing, dispatching, or route analysis.

Comments and Other Information

The District will contribute towards health benefits on a prorated basis (based on employee's work year and hours assigned). The benefit package includes options for medical, dental and vision. Medical plan options include Kaiser, Western Health Advantage and Sutter Health Plus. $10,960 per year for Employee-only medical benefit selection. $13,000 per year for Employee+1 or Family medical benefit selection.
