Your work will power access to data for a variety of use-cases, be it real-time stream processing, online data access, analytic data exploration or large-scale data processing. Our mission is to enable our community of data scientists, analysts, and developers to derive faster insights and reduce TTM in order to fuel Viasat growth.The Day-To-DayIn this Software Engineer role, you will own core components of data ingestion and integration processing that intakes ~4 billion events per hour with data volume in excess of 30TB per day. You will design and implement new features and enhancements to our data platform to advance component architecture towards strategic data governance/management objectives while providing ongoing support, monitoring, and maintenance of deployed products. Additionally, you will monitor emerging technologies/technology practices for potential use within the Company.What You'll Need5+ years software development experience using at least two of the following: Java, Scala, Python, C or C++.Familiarity with RDBMS technologies (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, etc.)Experience in Linux based systems, docker, and code versioning tooling (Git/CI/CD).Familiarity with at least one cloud provider such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.Experience in design and implementation of robust and highly scalable Data servicesExperience in Linux based systems, docker, and code versioning tooling (Git/CI/CD).Reliable teammate with the ability to handle different projects simultaneously in a fast-paced multifaceted agile work environment.BS or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Math, Physics or a related fieldAbility to travel up to 10%Strong analytical abilitiesUS Citizenship requiredWhat Will Help You On The JobUnderstanding of distributed and parallel computing architecturesExperience with scaled data environments and Streaming technologies like Kafka and SparkExpertise in Scala and/or JavaWorking experience in design, development, and implementation of highly scalable, scaled software systems and components, client-facing web applications and systems as a full stack developer using one of the following: Java, Python, or ScalaSalary Range$140,500.00 - $221,500.00 / annually. For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $174,000.00- $261,000.00/ annually At Viasat, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience. Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
