The Western States Regional Joint Board of Workers United-SEIU is a growing, progressive union of 10,000 workers at warehouses, industrial laundries, fitness workers, and other jobs in California, Nevada, Arizona, and New Mexico.

This position is based in Los Angeles, Sacramento, Phoenix, Tucson, or Las Vegas, and requires frequent travel between several of those locations.

The Coordinator will be responsible for supervising a team of internal organizers and coordinating with Local Union leaders in the warehouse industry, recruiting and developing strong leaders and building an organized, militant membership capable of fighting for justice and winning power in their workplaces, industries, and communities.

The Organizing Coordinator is a senior organizing position responsible for leading and supporting internal organizing campaigns, supervising and developing organizers, coordinating organizing strategy, and ensuring successful campaign execution across multiple worksites and industries. This position combines direct organizing responsibilities with leadership and coordination duties, helping build worker power through strategic organizing, member engagement, leadership development, and campaign management.

The Organizing Coordinator will oversee organizing efforts within distribution centers and other represented industries while providing guidance, coaching, and support to internal organizers. The position requires flexibility to travel and support organizing campaigns in California, Arizona, Nevada, and nationally as organizational priorities require.

Key Responsibilities
Organizing Leadership & Campaign Coordination 

• Coordinate and support internal organizing campaigns across multiple worksites, industries, and geographic regions.
• Assist in developing and implementing organizing plans, campaign strategies, and worker engagement programs.
• Lead organizing drives, contract campaigns, workplace actions, and member mobilization efforts.
• Ensure organizing goals, timelines, and benchmarks are met.
• Work closely with union leadership to identify organizing opportunities and campaign priorities.
• Support strategic planning for growth and member engagement initiatives.

Organizer Supervision & Staff Development 

• Provide day-to-day, coaching, and support to organizers and internal organizing staff.
• Monitor organizer performance and provide feedback to strengthen organizing skills and effectiveness.
• Support organizer training, leadership development, and professional growth.
• Foster a collaborative, accountable, and worker-centered organizing culture.

Warehouse Industry Organizing 

• Coordinate organizing activities within distribution centers and related workplaces.
• Build relationships with workers and workplace leaders.
• Identify and develop worker leaders capable of sustaining organizing efforts.
• Support contract enforcement, workplace issue campaigns, and membership growth.
• Conduct worksite visits and maintain regular communication with members and potential members.
• Travel to other states to assist with organizing drives, strategic campaigns, worker actions, training, and leadership development initiatives.

Campaign Management & Administration 

• Maintain organizing databases, campaign plans, worksite assessments, and organizing trackers.
• Monitor campaign metrics and prepare reports for leadership.
• Ensure accurate documentation of organizing activity and outcomes.
• Coordinate meetings, training, and organizing events.
• Support communications and outreach related to organizing campaigns.

Qualifications
Required 

• Minimum of 3–5 years of labor, community, political, or worker organizing experience.
• Demonstrated ability to lead organizing campaigns and develop worker leaders.
• Experience supervising, mentoring, or coordinating the work of organizers.
• Strong understanding of union organizing principles and worker power-building strategies.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to manage multiple campaigns and priorities simultaneously.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively.

Preferred 

• Experience organizing in the laundry industry, service sector, manufacturing, healthcare, or other frontline worker industries.
• Experience with internal organizing, membership growth campaigns, and contract campaigns.
• Bilingual (especially Spanish and English) or multilingual skills. 
• Experience using organizing databases and campaign tracking systems.
• Experience facilitating worker training and leadership development programs.

Physical & Travel Requirements

• Ability to conduct frequent worksite visits.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as campaign needs require.
• Ability to travel throughout the region under WSRJB jurisdiction for organizing assignments, training, and campaign support.
• Ability to work in diverse workplace environments, including industrial and laundry facilities.

Compensation: Salary for this position is $88,400. Excellent benefits include $220 weekly car allowance in addition to reimbursement of gas and car insurance; phone reimbursement; fully employer-paid family health, dental, and vision insurance; a generous paid time off package; fully employer-paid pension retirement plan; life insurance; and other benefits outlined in a staff union contract.

Mission of the Role: The Organizing Coordinator strengthens worker power by leading organizing campaigns, supervising and developing organizers, supporting laundry and cross-industry organizing efforts, and ensuring the union has the capacity to grow, mobilize members, and win strong workplace and industry-wide improvements for workers. 

Performance Evaluation: To support success in this role, formal performance evaluations will be conducted at three-month intervals during the first year of employment. These reviews will assess progress toward established goals, identify opportunities for professional development, and ensure the position continues to effectively support the organization's collective bargaining strategy and priorities.
