Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Step Down/PCU night shift position requiring cardiac telemetry expertise and a NC or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in the Step Down/PCU unit of a hospital environment
• Patient population includes A-Fib RVR, hyperglycemia, hypertension requiring drips, and heparin drip management
• Target patient ratio of 1:4 with 1 RN and 1 CNA/Monitor Tech per 4 beds
• Night shift schedule from 18:45-07:15, alternating 36 hours one week and 48 hours the next (Fri-Sun schedule), 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required to ED as an IVC Sitter
• Uses Omnicell for medication management and MediTech for documentation

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) required, pending acceptable at time of submission
• Current certifications: BLS and ACLS
• Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience required
• Skilled in cardiac telemetry monitoring, including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias (on-unit and remote monitoring)
• Experience with IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips
• Experience with feeding tube care and management
• Experience with Continuous Bladder Irrigation (CBI)
• Experience accessing/managing ports, arterial lines, central lines, peripheral lines, and PICC lines
• Experience with blood product administration and starting/maintaining IVs
• Experience with heparin protocols and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Experience caring for patients with CVA, seizure disorders, and substance withdrawal
• Experience with total joint replacement care
• Experience with BiPAP/CPAP management and care of ventilated patients
• Experience managing chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac), high flow nasal cannula, nasal cannula, and non-invasive airway management
• Experience with oxygen administration, isolation precautions/PPE, and wound care/wound vac

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive telemetry and stepdown-level nursing care to a medically complex patient population
• Unit orientation is 24 hours, with hospital orientation occurring during week one requiring daily class attendance
• Navy scrubs required
• Local candidates within 50 miles are accepted at a lower rate
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved as long as it does not fall on a holiday, and no RTO is allowed during the first week of the assignment
• Former Novant Health or New Hanover PERM/PRN/EP employees must wait 12 months before applying and disclose prior employment details for facility approval
• Current travel per diem clinicians must choose between travel or per diem status, as they are not eligible for both
• Travel pairs are allowed if on different units and disclosed at submission
