Title: Full stack Mobile (React Native) developer with React and API experience Location: Plano, TX (3 days onsite in a week) Purpose of Job Lead the architecture, delivery, and ongoing support of a modern Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) and digital application platform that supports the app and web experiences. This role provides hands‑on technical leadership for the cloud‑based service layer that enables the React Native and web front ends to deliver reliable, scalable, and maintainable customer experiences. This role is accountable for defining how the BFF, cloud services, integration patterns, data flow, and React application architecture work together. The front‑end teams will rely on this leader to establish clear contracts, sound architecture, and practical engineering patterns that allow the broader rewrite and modernization effort to move quickly without creating long‐term complexity. The role also helps raise the capability of the engineering team by introducing modern development practices, including thoughtful use of AI‑assisted development tools where they improve delivery speed, documentation, testing, and engineering quality. Job Responsibilities Lead the design, delivery, and ongoing maintenance of a BFF and API/service layer that supports app and web modernization efforts. Serve as the primary technical lead for how the BFF, cloud platform, front‑end application architecture, and key integrations fit together. Partner with React Native, React/web, and back‑end engineering teams to define clear service contracts, data flow, integration patterns, and ownership boundaries. Provide hands‑on software development leadership across cloud‑based application code, deployment practices, operational readiness, monitoring, and production support. Guide architectural decisions related to scalability, reliability, performance, security, cost awareness, maintainability, and long‑term platform flexibility. Help transition legacy application and SDK dependency patterns toward a cleaner, service‑oriented architecture that can support future growth. Translate complex technical needs into practical implementation plans, phased delivery milestones, and clear sequencing for engineers, contractors, and partner teams. Establish and reinforce engineering standards for code quality, automated testing, documentation, observability, release readiness, and operational supportability. Lead technical reviews, architecture discussions, implementation planning, and production‑readiness reviews for BFF and application‑platform work. Partner with Product, QA/QE, DevOps/Platform, Security, Operations, BYTE, D&T, Yum platform teams, vendors, and engineering leadership to align delivery plans and technical direction. Support production awareness, escalation management, root‑cause analysis, and corrective actions for issues affecting the BFF, app/web experiences, integrations, or restaurant operations. Mentor engineers and contractors on architecture, system‑level thinking, cloud‑native development, front‑end/back‑end integration, troubleshooting, and maintainable software practices. Champion practical AI‑assisted development practices that improve productivity, documentation, testing, and implementation quality while maintaining appropriate review and security guardrails. Communicate technical tradeoffs, risks, dependencies, and recommendations clearly to technical and non‑technical stakeholders. Strong understanding of Backend-for-Frontend patterns, API/service design, system integration, data flow, and service ownership boundaries. Hands‑on experience building, deploying, monitoring, maintaining, and supporting cloud‑hosted application services. Strong understanding of modern React, React Native, and web application architecture, including how front‑end applications depend on stable service contracts and well‑designed integration patterns. Ability to guide architecture for a major rewrite or modernization effort while balancing near‑term delivery with long‑term maintainability. Strong software engineering discipline across code quality, automated testing, CI/CD, documentation, observability, release readiness, and production support. Ability to evaluate tradeoffs related to performance, reliability, security, cost, scalability, developer experience, and operational complexity. Experience working with enterprise integrations, third‑party platforms, internal services, and cross‑team dependencies. Strong production support mindset, including incident response, root‑cause analysis, monitoring, alerting, runbooks, and continuous improvement. Ability to lead through influence across engineers, product owners, QA/QE, platform teams, security, vendors, and leadership stakeholders. Clear communication skills, including architecture documentation, implementation planning, decision records, status updates, and stakeholder‑facing trade‑off explanations. Practical familiarity with AI‑assisted development tools and the ability to help a development team adopt them responsibly for productivity, testing, documentation, and engineering quality. Comfortable operating at a platform and system level, not only at a feature or ticket level. Experience in restaurant, retail, e‑commerce, loyalty, ordering, or high‑volume multi‑location digital platforms preferred.
