Entry-Level Industrial Electrician

Location: West Virginia

Department: Maintenance

Pay: $30.60 per hour

Schedule: Rotating 12-hour shifts

Position Overview

A growing industrial manufacturing facility in West Virginia is seeking Industrial Electricians to support the maintenance, troubleshooting, and improvement of automated production equipment.

This position is open to both experienced electricians and recent graduates from programs such as Electrical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Automation, Instrumentation, or Multi-Craft Technology.

The facility operates a combination of older manufacturing equipment and modern automated systems. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys diagnosing electrical issues, learning new equipment, and developing hands-on industrial troubleshooting experience.

Schedule

During the initial onboarding and training period, employees will generally work:

7:00 AM–7:00 PM

The schedule may rotate as needed while the maintenance department adds additional staff.

Once both open electrician positions are filled, the long-term schedule will transition to:

• Rotating 12-hour shifts

• 3-2-2-3 schedule

• Rotation between day and night shift every two weeks

• Regularly scheduled days off and every other weekend off

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot electrical failures on production equipment

• Diagnose and repair AC and DC motors

• Troubleshoot Allen-Bradley PLC-controlled equipment

• Navigate PLC programs and ladder logic to identify equipment faults

• Troubleshoot motor controls, industrial drives, and VFDs

• Repair and maintain electrical distribution systems

• Maintain facility lighting and electrical circuits

• Troubleshoot 240V industrial equipment

• Perform preventative electrical maintenance

• Read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams

• Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and modifications

• Work alongside mechanical maintenance technicians during equipment breakdowns

• Support continuous-improvement projects focused on equipment reliability and reduced downtime

• Follow all plant safety procedures and electrical safety standards

Equipment

Electricians may work on:

• Automated production lines

• Coil-processing equipment

• AC and DC motors

• Variable frequency drives

• Motor-control systems

• Allen-Bradley PLC-controlled machinery

• Electrical distribution equipment

• Lighting systems

• Legacy manufacturing equipment

• Modern automated systems

Qualifications

Candidates should have one of the following:

• Associate degree, diploma, or certificate in Electrical Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Automation, Instrumentation, Multi-Craft Technology, or a related field

OR

• Equivalent hands-on industrial electrical or maintenance experience

Helpful knowledge includes:

• Industrial electricity

• AC and DC motors

• 240V electrical systems

• Motor controls

• PLC troubleshooting

• Electrical schematics

• VFDs

• Electrical distribution systems

• Industrial equipment troubleshooting

Extensive PLC programming experience is not required. Candidates should be comfortable learning how to navigate PLC logic for troubleshooting purposes.

Entry-Level Candidates

Recent technical-school graduates are strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates do not need several years of industrial experience if they have a strong electrical or maintenance education, mechanical aptitude, and a willingness to learn.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate:

• Enjoys diagnosing problems rather than simply replacing parts

• Has strong electrical troubleshooting skills or technical training

• Is willing to learn Allen-Bradley PLC systems and industrial automation

• Is comfortable working around production equipment

• Can work both independently and alongside other maintenance technicians

• Is open to rotating day and night shifts

• Wants to build a long-term career in industrial electrical maintenance

Compensation

Starting pay: $30.60 per hour

Overtime may be available during the initial staffing and onboarding period.
