Medical Surgical Acute Care 6 is a 39-bed acuity adaptable medical and progressive level of care unit. Of the 39 beds, 6 include progressive care level unit rooms. Our primary focus is on gastrointestinal procedures while also including ENT and GYN. Nurses are trained to care for a variety of medical/surgical patients presenting with COPD, chest pain, dehydration, sepsis, COVID, and other conditions.

• 1 staff member that followed the Medical Surgical to ICU track
• 1 RN that followed the Medical Surgical PCU track

Qualifications:

• Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Education: The Registered Nurse (RN) must have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. Exceptions: Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience. Such exceptions are subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO).
• Requires an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license.
• Requires that the RN has graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program.
• Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA.
• Other advanced Life Support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies.
