Auto Body Technician

Overview SC Beaufort – 154039. The Auto Body Technician is responsible for providing an exceptional customer experience through meticulous assessment and quality repair of each vehicle to restore it to pre‑accident condition. The role involves disassembly, repairs, and reassembly while meeting the company’s KPI of speed, quality, and customer excellence. The technician serves as a brand ambassador of The Boyd Group. Key Responsibilities Ensure consistent execution of WOW (Wow Operating Way) plan. Plan repair work and prepare cost estimates for customers. Use tools such as cutting guns, plasma cutters, hydraulic jacks, hammers, and pliers to repair vehicle sections. Hammer out dents, dimples, and other minor body damage; mix and apply filler resins when needed. Realign car chassis and frames to repair structural damage. Remove damaged sections and replace with new or aftermarket parts. Replace or repair glass and windshields as needed. Replace or repair interior parts as needed. Weld and otherwise attach or fit parts into place. Prepare and repaint vehicles with factory‑specified paint or agreed‑upon equivalent. Attempt to complete work orders within labor time guidelines. Inspect vehicles after repair to ensure all work has been executed correctly. Perform any other related duties as assigned. Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent required. Successful completion of a technical school program or a 3‑year apprenticeship as an auto body repairer. Required Skills and Abilities Ability to read job orders and work with very little supervision. Ability to work collaboratively with other repairers in an auto body shop. Thorough understanding of methods and procedures to repair vehicle bodies. Thorough understanding of how to use shop tools. Other Requirements Capacity to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds at times. Ability to visually inspect vehicle damage in a variety of weather conditions. Ability to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat for repairs and inspections. Compensation Flat rate estimated $50,000–150,000 /Year. Compensation is a performance‑based structure tied to turned hours. If total compensation in a pay period is less than minimum wage, hours will be calculated with a guarantee of applicable local or state minimum wage, whichever is greater. Compensation is commensurate with skill, education, and experience.
